The DR770X-2CH Truck is BlackVue’s take on full HD dash cams with a front camera and rear camera built to withstand the demands of daily deliveries.

Crafted with the same looks of the DR770X and DR750X, the BlackVue DR770X-2CH Truck keeps its overall award-winning all-black tube shaped design simple and stealthy, allowing you to hide it right up behind your rear-view mirror. It is also built with heat emission holes to keep your dash cam cooler and more efficient heat dissipation.

Useful for monitoring the rear of trucks and heavy commercial vehicles, the DR770X-2CH Truck also has a rear camera built to withstand most weather conditions, thanks to its metal waterproof casing. Its Ingress Protection rating (IP67K) indicates that it can withstand power washing as well.

And while deliveries and transportation of goods can be required during the night, the luminosity sensor of the camera is engineered to detect ambient light and activates the six infrared lights to assist in identifying vehicles and objects even in pitch-blackness.

When installing, we recommend using the provided screws to secure the waterproof rear camera to a flat surface, through bolting.

Apart from the external waterproof rear camera and IR lights, the DR770X-2CH Truck also includes a 15m (49ft) coaxial cable designed for larger vehicles, ensuring plenty of cable to tackle those long distances.

Another accessory you can add is a BlackVue tamper proof case which prevents formatting or removal of the SD card, unplugging of power or coaxial cable, and removal of the dash cam from the mount. For the DR770X, and the DR970X series, you can use a BTC-3A tamper-proof case. With this, you ensure that no tampering will be done because of both driver activity and other external factors.

Moreover, every standard DR770X and DR970X series including the DR770X-2CH Truck has a format button to clear the card. This unit also automatically formats the microSD card if it is the wrong format type. What this means is that for previous models, they only took SD cards that were formatted in FAT32, and if it wasn’t, you’d have to format it on a computer. Now with the BlackVue DR770X-2CH Truck, they’re automatically formatted when placed into the unit. No button press needed, allowing for a wider range of cards used more easily.

Its proximity sensor has also been upgraded to a touch sensor to avoid unintentional triggers from dangling air fresheners and sunrays. The proximity sensor can now be triggered by pressing on the side of the unit, which will trigger manual recording.

Recording footage of your truck is crucial, especially when you encounter an incident where you have to show and track evidence - whether it’s a traffic violation, accident, or delivery anomalies. It saves you time, and even a huge amount of money for insurance claims.

The DR770X-2CH Truck is confident to do the job for you. Using 2MP Sony STARVIS image sensors, a world leader in imaging technology, the new DR770X-2CH is capable of capturing the front and rear view in a 139 and 137-degree field of view, respectively. Like the standard DR770X-2CH, the DR770X-2CH Truck is also equipped with a new SigmaStar CPU and ISP Tuning software which are responsible for the improvements in white balance, dynamic range, and contrast in daytime videos.

Like its predecessors DR750X Plus and DR750X, the DR770X’s front camera records at Full HD at 60FPS. With twice the frame rate, the DR770X captures smoother videos even at high speeds, significantly reducing motion blur in your footage.

And as far as bitrate choices go, there are four:

• Highest/Extreme
• Highest
• High
• Normal

Previous X Plus series restricts you to the Extreme mode and does not allow you to change it. Further examination of the raw video footage shows that the DR770X in extreme mode has a recording bitrate of 25.24 Mb/s.

If you want to enhance the video quality, the BlackVue DR770X-2CH Truck also has the option for a BlackVue CPL filter which can help in reducing glares and reflections on the front dash cam. The role of truckers, drivers and fleet managers is to ensure that they get the job done through whatever weather, so rain or shine, the drive must go on. While the rear camera is already waterproof, the front camera also needs an accessory that can prevent rain droplets, dust, and other environmental elements from ruining the footage - that’s why we highly recommend you to get a BlackboxMyCar Aqua Shield.

Moreover, like the DR750X-2CH Plus, the DR770X-2CH Truck only supports the H.264 codec. While we appreciated the additional compression provided by H.265, we recognize the compatibility issues that it raises.

Regardless of how big or small your commercial vehicle is, the BlackVue DR770X-2CH Truck can be discreetly installed in two ways.

12V Charger Installation

The quickest option to install the DR770X-2CH Truck is to use the 12V power cable and the cigarette lighter socket. Aside from the plug-and-play installation, it’s also convenient and cost-free as the cable is already included in the package. This will ensure that the DR770X-2CH Truck is running whenever the vehicle is running.

Hardwire Installation

If you want to make the most of the DR770X-2CH Truck's features, we recommend a hardwire installation or a dash cam battery pack like a BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8 or a BlackVue Power Magic Ultra B-130X Battery. Hardwiring might require more effort in installing, but this can bring out the DR770X-2CH Truck’s full range of features - including advanced parking mode. Every package of the BlackVue DR770X-2CH includes a hardwiring kit, so you don’t have to worry about purchasing one separately.

To set up parking mode, you must connect the DR770X-2CH Truck to your vehicle's fuse box, connect the ACC+ cable to a fuse that turns on only when the engine is running, and connect the BATT+ cable to a fuse that stays powered even after the engine is off. Again, having a dedicated dash cam battery pack is another option, if you don't want to hardwire the dash cam to your truck's fuse panel.

Rest assured that the voltage cut-off for this camera is fully compatible with both 12V vehicle batteries, and 24V batteries! You can change the cut-off as needed through the settings of the camera.

Parking mode is important, especially for a fleet. The BlackVue DR770X-2CH Truck can be hardwired to your vehicle’s fuse panel for Parking Mode, without requiring optional accessories. Again, inside the box is a BlackVue hardwiring cable. If you have a BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8 or B-130X battery pack, the DR770X-2CH Truck is compatible with all of them as well.

Once the dash cam is hardwired or hooked up to a battery pack, it will switch to parking mode automatically when the car’s ignition is turned off. The DR770X-2CH Truck comes with a built-in voltage monitor to protect your vehicle battery, and voltage cutoff and timer can be set in the BlackVue app.

The BlackVue DR770X-2CH Truck has standard BlackVue parking mode features, including built-in motion and impact detection. It also has Time Lapse mode.

Now, how long can a dash cam last in parking mode? For the DR770X-2CH Truck, it uses about 300mA/12V of power during parking mode. If you’re using just the front camera, the DR770X-1CH uses about 190mA/12V of power. And if you’re hardwiring the dash cam directly to your car’s fuse panel, parking mode runtime also depends on the health of your car battery and the voltage cutoff settings.

In terms of operating temperature, it is also similar to the DR750X Plus - ranging from -20 °C to 80°C or -4°F to 176°F. So, whether you’re living in a warm or cold region, the BlackVue DR770X-2CH Truck is built to conquer the weather.

The DR770X-2CH Truck is compatible with the BlackVue CM100G LTE module, and any hotspot/Wi-Fi connection in the vehicle. The DR770X-2CH Truck comes with the standard BlackVue cloud features like push notifications, Cloud backup, real-time video and GPS tracking.

Now, how can these Cloud features be helpful in terms of fleet management?

The Remote Live View feature allows you to check on your car from anywhere. This is useful if you leave your car unattended, or when someone else drives your vehicle, or when you’re managing a fleet for your business. Any time of day, as long as the camera is connected to the Cloud, you can also review videos stored on your devices through the Video Playback feature.

Moreover, even if your miles, a state, or even a country away from your fleet vehicle, the camera can still notify you of the crucial events your vehicle is encountering. This feature works best with Parking Mode. The moment an impact is detected, your BlackVue will automatically send a notification to your phone or your web browser, accompanied by a snapshot for reference.

Aside from viewing the footage of your dash cam in real time, you can also use the BlackVue DR770X’s two-way voice communication feature to talk with your driver in the truck on your smartphone or computer. BlackVue’s Two-Way Voice Communication is like a phone call, but connected to the dash cam. It is even safer as the driver can speak while keeping hands on the wheel, minimizing the chance of them getting distracted and being involved in accidents.

Using the newly redesigned BlackVue App on your smartphone or tablet, you see in real-time where your vehicle is located and detailed tracking of the vehicle’s route. The DR770X-2CH Truck also supports Seamless Pairing, so pretty much one tap from the BlackVue app on your phone and you’re connected to the dash cam.

If you are looking to upgrade to the DR770X-2CH Truck from the DR750X Plus Truck from an older BlackVue model, here’s what you need to know in terms of cables and accessories compatibility:

1. DR750X/X-Plus Power cables - compatible with the DR770X, so if you already have them all set up you can simply leave them in place and just swap out the dash cams.

2. DR750X/X-Plus Rear/Coaxial cables - compatible with the DR770X. Again, you can use what you already have set up and just swap out the dash cams.

3. DR750X-Plus Rear camera - yes, the DR770X uses the same rear camera as the DR750X Plus, so if your old rear camera is stuck on the vehicle, you could leave it there and just connect it to the new DR770X. Note that if you’re using the DR750X, the rear camera is actually not compatible with the DR770X. So, if you’re upgrading from the DR750X, you will need to replace the rear camera as well.

4. Battery pack - yes, the DR770X is compatible with the BlackVue B-124X and B-130X, as well as the BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8.

5. DR750X/X-Plus CPL Filter - the DR770X is compatible with the latest BlackVue CPL filter

6. DR750X/X-Plus Tamper-proof mount - the DR770X is compatible with the latest DR750X/X-Plus tamper-proof mount
