VIOFO HK4 USB-C Hardwire Kit

The VIOFO HK4 connects a compatible dash cam to constant power, ignition-switched power and ground. Its ACC signal lets the camera change between driving and parking recording, while a selectable voltage cutoff limits how far parking recording draws down the vehicle battery.

This listing supplies the HK4. Match it to your exact camera and use the camera’s designated hardwire power input; a USB-C socket alone does not establish compatibility.

Match the kit to your VIOFO camera

VIOFO lists HK4 support for A119 MINI and MINI 2, original A229, A229 Plus, A229 Pro, A229 Ultra, original A329, A329S, T130 and WM1. A139 and A139 Pro require the model-specific HK3-C kit. For example, A229 Pro and A119 MINI 2 use HK4-compatible parking power.

The mini-USB A119 V3 and A129 models use a different HK3 kit. For VS1, choose the model-specific HK5 kit; it has the intended connector fit. For newer camera features that specifically require HK6, compare HK6 and the exact camera manual.

Choose the cutoff for your vehicle

The switch offers four paired settings: 12.4/24.8V, 12.2/24.4V, 12.0/24.0V and 11.8/23.6V. The kit accepts a 12V or 24V vehicle supply and converts it to a 5V output, up to 2A, for the camera.

A higher cutoff leaves more battery reserve and can shorten parking recording. Choose a setting suitable for the vehicle, battery condition and usage.

Connect the three leads correctly

Red goes to a suitable constant-power circuit, yellow to a suitable ignition-switched ACC circuit and black to a sound vehicle ground. Use a meter or circuit tester to identify the circuits in both ignition states, and follow the vehicle and camera instructions.

Choose fuse taps that match the vehicle’s fuse type; they are separate from the base HK4 kit. Keep wiring clear of airbags and moving parts. Once installed, test driving-to-parking switching and the camera’s recording settings. Our fuse-box hardwiring guide explains the installation process.

Mount the control module in open space as directed by VIOFO; do not cover it with carpet. Test the kit and camera before securing all wiring behind trim.

Which kit will I receive?

The VIOFO HK4, SKU VF-HK4. It is a complete three-wire hardwire kit with a USB-C camera plug, not a loose extension cable.

Does it fit every USB-C dash cam?

No. Check the exact camera model and intended power port. Connector shape alone does not establish parking-mode signalling or the features a camera supports.

Does HK4 work with the A229 and A329 families?

It supports the original A229, A229 Plus, A229 Pro, A229 Ultra, original A329 and A329S. Use the correct GPS-mount power input where specified. Some newer parking and voltage-display features require HK6 instead.

Which kit should I use for VS1?

Choose the VIOFO HK5 for VS1 for its intended connector fit. Its connector is designed for the VS1 power port.

Will it work with an A119 V3 or A129?

Those mini-USB models require the VIOFO HK3, not this USB-C HK4. A119 MINI and MINI 2 are different models from A119 V3.

Are fuse taps included?

Fuse taps are not included with the base HK4 kit. Add the correct fuse-tap type separately or select a separately offered fuse-tap add-on, where available.

What do the red, yellow and black wires do?

Red supplies constant battery power, yellow detects the ignition-switched ACC state, and black connects to ground. Identify suitable circuits with a tester and follow the installation instructions.

Will parking mode run all night?

Runtime depends on available battery power, the selected cutoff, camera settings and temperature. The kit stops supplying power at the selected threshold; a camera timer may end recording earlier.

Does the kit work in a 24V vehicle?

Yes, it supports a 24V supply as well as 12V. Use the corresponding 24V cutoff values shown on the module and a suitable vehicle installation.

Does HK4 add recording features or remote viewing?

No. The camera determines its recording modes. HK4 supplies power and the ACC signal; it does not add a rear camera, cellular connection or cloud service.

When should I choose HK6 instead?

Choose HK6 when your exact camera requires it for a supported feature, such as current voltage-display controls or newer low-power parking operation. Confirm the camera model and firmware first.

How long is the standard HK4 cable?

VIOFO specifies 4m total, approximately 13ft, for the standard HK4. Measure the complete installation route before ordering. VIOFO also sells a separate 6m version; it is a different length option.

BEWARE - Fuse taps NOT included

I ordered this kit thinking it included everything required to hardwire my Viofo. The fuse taps are NOT included! They expect you to order it separately which DOUBLES the cost of the hardwire kit.

The kit itself is low quality. The wires are not terminated with connectors so you have to be careful not to break any of the small strands of wires when you connect it to a fuse tap. You also need to purchase a crimping tool if you want it properly crimped down or else you risk the wires slipping out of the sleeve.

Kits from other brands do the right thing by terminating the wires with connectors AND including the fuse taps with corresponding connectors.

Avoid this kit and purchase from any other brand that has the connectors and fuse taps. It doesn’t have to be from the same brand. It is all the same because USB-C is one standard across any platform. Don’t let them fool you into thinking otherwise.

simple upgrade from the HK3

purchased a A329 as an upgrade to a A129 that the main camera quit on. The layout is basically identical to the HK3. I took the old out and placed the new in with no hiccups. Having the parking ability for my cam is super important to me so not having this was not an option. It's the typical high quality from Viofo.

This was a no brainer to install, I had one when I install my Viofo A129 Pro Duo so I knew that I wanted to install another one for my Viofo A229 Pro and I can tell you, this is the way to go if you want parking mode for you car truck.

Since I install one for my new Viofo A229 camera I know now that I wouldn't want to installed any camera in my truck. I have installed the one when I had my Viofo A129 Pro Duo, installing this was a breeze, I had a lot of practice with the old dash camera, I would advice anyone who have a dash cam to install one for their car or truck, it's just a piece of mind, install it and forget it, you will thank yourself later.
