BlackVue DR590X-2CH Full HD Dash Cam

The BlackVue DR590X redefines entry level. With some of BlackVue's best technology, including advanced parking recording, the DR590X is a great dash cam to start because it blends performance and reliability into a super stealthy design that's more affordable than you might think.

1080p Full HD

Parking Mode

Built-in WiFi

Mobile Viewer App

Sony STARVIS Image Sensors

The DR590X-2CH records Full HD 1080p videos of the front and back of your car at 30 frames per second, in a 139-degree wide view angle. Super Night Vision, thanks to Sony STARVIS image sensors, ensures image clarity in all light situations, day or night.

Peace of Mind When You Leave Your Vehicle

With advanced motion and impact-triggered recording, you can stay confident when leaving your car unattended on the streets, parking lot or even your own driveway.

In Parking Mode, the DR590X-2CH monitors your parked vehicle, recording videos when it detects movement or impact. It also includes the few seconds before the triggering event, thanks to buffered recording.

You will need a 3-wire Hardwiring cable or an external battery pack (such as the BlackVue Power Magic Ultra Battery Pack B-124X) to enable this feature.

NOTE: Certain makes/models of vehicles (BMW specifically) may require an extended hardwiring kit if the fuse box is located in the trunk. Please contact us if you need a hardwiring kit extension service.

Full Control at Your Fingertips

Say goodbye to taking the memory card in and out of the dash cam. The DR590X-2CH features built-in Wi-Fi to let you connect with the BlackVue App to control dash cam settings and access footage clips on the spot. Full control at your fingertips.

Additionally, you can configure the Wi-Fi activation behavior in the settings (Auto Turn On, Auto Turn Off).

Award-Winning Stealthy Design

BlackVue keeps the overall design of its dash cam simple and stealthy with an all black tube shape and adhesive mount, allowing you to hide it right up behind your rear-view mirror.

Not quite perfect, but great for the money

The quality of video, size of the product (keeping it out of the visible way), the battery protection feature, ability to flip the image in firmware, and what's become the semi-standard of connecting via a temporary wifi hotspot all work very well. I'd recommend this camera to anyone who needs a 1080P double camera. Solid quality and solid product. There's a few features I wish they'd improve.

1) The parking mode should have a "do not engage for X minutes" timer. If I have to get my kid out of the car after parking, I *always* return to a "there was a collision detected in parking mode!" warning (from opening and closing the kid's door after the car is off), making that warning almost meaningless for me. If there was a 2 minute delay (roughly) that I could set to allow for doors opening and closing, it'd be perfect.

2) The volume of the speaker is really low even at its best. Hard to tell what it's saying when driving. I get it's a tiny speaker, but having the option to switch to meaningful beep tones / sequences might be better if the volume can't be improved?

3) Wifi. It's nice that I can get the videos on my phone, but with a 256GB card in the camera, I can't reasonably download everything and have to be very judicious. I also can't easily download to my computer since I'd have to get my computer (in the house) to connect to the wifi hotspot the camera created. Or I'd have to physically remove the SD card, which is possible, but annoying. Better would be allowing the camera to join my home's wifi as a very basic file server (basic auth optional) which would be an almost trivial update. The gold standard would be to allow for an automated process of storage (separate from cloud, which I know you want to sell, but I don't want). EG: FTP or SFTP backup to a server when it connects to the home network.

4) The other difficulty here is that the wifi is relatively slow. These are large files we're talking about, so skimming through them over a slow-ish wifi link has been difficult to find the actual incident. Having the fastest wifi chip / protocol would be awesome and I *think* not a big cost burden.

Great product and service

Camera seems great so far. Video quality is plenty clear enough for my needs. Installation was easy, definitely worth getting the install tool kit and fuse taps with your order if you are going to hardwire. Connection to app was simple too. Shipped within a day and arrived the next.
