Setting Up with the VIOFO 3-Wire Hardwiring Kit for Your VIOFO Dash Cam
Hardwiring your dash cam to the vehicle’s fusebox is one of the most common installation methods to power on your dash cam when the vehicle is off, thus offering parking-mode recording (for dash cams that do have parking-mode recording feature).
Hardwiring kits are available for our dash cams and has become widely popular over the years for drivers who wants protection for their vehicles 24/7. They provide power to your dash cam, and allow your dash cam to be your silent witness when you're not there.
The VIOFO 3 Wire Hardwire Kit is designed for VIOFO dash cams, most importantly the VIOFO A129. It has various functions, but primarily is used to provide power to your dash cam through the fuse box when the vehicle is turned off. The module itself is powered through the vehicle's fuse box and detects your battery's voltage when the vehicle is turned off, so it knows when to cut off power to the dash cam to save your vehicle’s battery from dying.

Attaching the Wires
Similar to how we have laid out our instructions within our step-by-step hardwiring guide, the yellow wire attaches to a constant fuse, the red wire attaches to an ignition-switched fuse and the black wire attaches to a ground bolt.
The general instructions for hardwiring remains the same here: we recommend the fuses be between 10-30A and to refer to the vehicle owner’s manual so as to avoid fuses that pertain to safety features.
- The ACC (ignition-switched) detection feature will allow the dash cam to switch to parking mode automatically if the vehicle’s engine turns off and switch back to normal recording after the vehicle’s engine turns on. Please be sure the cable is connected to the camera directly and not through the GPS mount.
Voltage Cut-off Settings
The VIOFO 3 Wire Hardwire Kit has adjustable low voltage protection levels, it will cut power to your dash camera when it detects the vehicle battery voltage is below the set number. The cutoff levels are:
- For most vehicles, 12.0V should provide about 6-8 hours of power after the car turns off and still offers enough juice for the vehicle to start up again. During very cold weather, we recommend setting this to 12.4V.
- This 3 wire hardwire kit also fits A119/A119S/A119 Pro dash cam, but the ACC function will not be available on those dash cams.
