Advanced Features of the New BlackVue DR970X Series 4K UHD Dash Cam

When you have a BlackVue dash cam, you don’t just have a device that sits in your car and records whatever’s happening around.

With innovation and satisfaction in mind, BlackVue has been committed in enhancing, and making the most out of the purchase by adding never-before-seen features in typical dash cams.

In this article, we will show you the number of advanced BlackVue features equipped in its new 4K dash cam, the DR970X 4K UHD.

What are the Advanced Features of the BlackVue DR970X?

Aside from delivering 4K UHD with its 8MP Sony STARVIS sensors - the clearest and finest in the BlackVue lineup - the BlackVue DR970X is also well-loved because of features that makes your ownership experience more convenient.

1.New Touch Sensor

This special feature is an upgrade to the DR970X and the DR770X series. Older BlackVue models have proximity sensors that automatically detect the presence of nearby objects passing by the dash cam, which can be sometimes triggered inaccurately due to sensitivity. Take the hanging air fresheners or light rays that enter your car as an example.

In the past, the proximity sensor was used for turning audio recording on/off, and now it’s been updated to be used for manual recording instead.

Now, BlackVue equipped the DR970X with a new touch sensor. Say goodbye to unintentional manual recording triggers because of dangling air fresheners or rays of lights coming into your car. No need for hard taps!

2. Built-in Voltage Monitor

This feature is useful for your battery, especially during parking mode. Also in the DR770X, the built-in voltage monitor of the DR970X enables the dash cam itself to monitor your vehicle’s battery voltage level.

When you hardwire your DR970X using the hardwiring power cable for parking mode, your BlackVue constantly monitors the voltage coming from your vehicle. You can choose a voltage cutoff value so the dash cam will shut itself down to prevent draining your battery, using the BlackVue App.

Moreover, you can also set a timer so that your dash cam will turn off based on either voltage or timer cutoff, whichever comes first. The voltage cutoff values are 11.8V, 12V, and 12.5V. You can also extend your parking modes with the B130X Ultra Magic Battery Pack or the BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8.

3. Voice Guidance

Another special feature of the BlackVue DR970X is the Voice Guidance features. While some dash cams only produce beeping sounds for alerts, or continuous voice notifications that will be all or nothing, with no option for fine-tuning. BlackVue designed its Voice Guidance feature with more advanced technology.

This can be accessed through the System Settings in your BlackVue app. Unlike other dash cams, the DR970X’s Voice Guidance gives you the full freedom to choose whichever function you want the voice to activate, with the option to disable each individual prompt at your preference. The following functions could be adjusted depending on your preference:

  • Power On/Off
  • Start Normal Recording
  • Start Event Recording
  • Change Recording Mode
  • Speed Alerts
  • Harsh Braking Alerts
  • Acceleration Alerts
  • Sharp Turn Alerts
  • Impact Detection in Parking Mode
  • BlackVue Cloud Notifications

4. Remote Live View and Video Playback

The Remote Live View feature allows you to check on your car from anywhere. This is useful if you leave your car unattended, or when someone else drives your vehicle, or when you’re managing a fleet for your business.

Whether through a BlackVue Viewer or the BlackVue App, you can access a real-time video feed from your Cloud‑connected dash cam and swap easily between the front, rear, or interior cameras if applicable. Any time of the day, as long as you’re connected to the Cloud, you can also review videos stored on your devices through the Video Playback feature.

Aside from its 8-megapixel CMOS sensor, 4K UHD video resolution that ensures clear footage - best paired with the BlackboxMyCar Aqua Shield for additional weather resistance and glare reduction, the BlackVue DR970X also guarantees quality and highly-accessible videos with its Remote Live View and Video Playback features.

5. Push Notifications

Even if your miles, a state, or even a country away from your car, as long as you have a BlackVue Cloud-enabled dash cam installed in it, you will be notified of the crucial events your vehicle is encountering.

This feature works best with Parking Mode. The moment an impact is detected, your BlackVue will automatically send a notification to your phone or your web browser, accompanied by a snapshot for reference.

6. Event Map

The latest addition to the BlackVue Cloud features, which the DR970X is equipped with is the Event Map.

Designed particularly for the BlackVue community, the Event Map feature combines data from the dash cam with a crowd-sourced map to display events such as impacts, hard brake incidents, and even playback videos - making it ideal for both fleet management and personal driving.

The Event Map is a useful feature to keep you and your fellow BlackVue dash cam users informed about what’s going on the road, for precaution and also for media sharing.

7. Live -Event Auto Upload and Video Backup

Accessing footage and making sure it is secured is not a problem with the BlackVue DR970X, especially with its Live-Event Auto Upload feature. This feature allows the dash cam to automatically upload live streams or recording files in low resolution to BlackVue Cloud.

You can also use the Video Backup feature to directly upload files from your BlackVue dash cam to the Cloud. You have the option of saving a single video or selecting multiple clips for bulk upload. Video that has been downloaded to your phone via the BlackVue app can also be accessed and shared via the Internal Memory menu.

8. Two-Way Voice Communication

Aside from viewing the footage of your dash cam real time, you can also use the BlackVue DR970X’s two-way voice communication feature to talk with people in the car from your smartphone.

BlackVue’s Two-Way Voice Communication is like a phone call, but connected to the dash cam. It is even safer as the driver can speak while keeping hands on the wheel, minimizing the chance of them getting distracted and being involved in accidents.

9. Mobile Hotspot Function

BlackVue Cloud dash cams like the DR970X and the DR770X can be transformed into a Wi-Fi router when connected to the CM100G LTE module. This enables the driver, or passengers to connect to the internet through the dash cam itself.

However, there are also new BlackVue dash cams that are designed with built-in 4G LTE connectivity that no longer need external modules - the 4K UHD DR970X-2CH LTE and the Full HD DR770X-2CH LTE. To activate this, all you need is a nano SIM card! Note that the BlackVue SIM Card is compatible with the T-Mobile, AT&T, Roger and Telus networks.

More than just the 4K UHD resolution, up to dual-channel configuration, advanced parking modes, built-in Wi-Fi and GPS, plus guaranteed reliability, the BlackVue DR970X also has a lot of features that you can’t find anywhere else!
