Which views does this 2CH package record?
VIOFO A229 Plus 2CH supplies front and rear views. There is no cabin camera in this package. Compare VIOFO A229 Plus 3CH for infrared passenger recording.
Can I use 60FPS and HDR together?
No. This Plus 2CH records front 2K at 60FPS with HDR off, or 30FPS with HDR on. The rear records 2K at 30FPS.
How does the A229 Plus compare with the Pro?
The Pro uses an 8MP IMX678 front sensor for 4K video; the Plus uses a 5MP IMX675 front sensor for 2K. Both families offer 2K STARVIS 2 rear cameras and 1080p infrared cabin options. Compare the A229 Pro 2CH for the higher-resolution front alternative. Choose the channel package for the views you need.
Are the hardwire kit and memory card included?
No. Choose a high-endurance microSD card up to 512GB and the VIOFO HK4 hardwire kit for parking power. Both front and rear CPL filters are separate purchases. The BTR200 remote is optional. The short USB-C data cable is for file transfer and updates, not the normal vehicle power lead.
Which CPL filters fit this configuration?
Front CPL-200 is optional. Rear CPL-300 is optional. Select the exact fit on our VIOFO CPL filters page. Adjust the filter while checking the recorded view to reduce dashboard reflections.
How do I power parking recording?
Connect the optional HK4 to constant power, ignition and ground, using the GPS mount’s USB-C power input. Match fuse taps to the vehicle and check ignition switching after installation. The current manual also supports HK6; a vehicle-voltage stamp requires HK6. A switched vehicle socket cannot keep recording once it stops supplying power.
Which parking modes can I choose?
Choose buffered Auto Event Detection for triggered clips, time-lapse without audio, or low-bitrate video and audio. A Night Vision option is available with 1FPS time-lapse. Select and test the parking mode described in the exact A229 Plus manual for your installed firmware.
What does parking geofencing do?
You can set up to three zones where the camera powers off instead of entering parking recording, such as a private garage. Outside those zones, or with weak or lost GPS reception, it enters parking mode. Check the zones in your own installation before relying on them.
Can I watch the camera while away from my vehicle?
No. The 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi connection works with a nearby phone. GPS adds information to saved recordings. This model has no built-in LTE or cloud service for remote viewing, live vehicle tracking or push parking alerts.
Which voice languages are supported?
English, Chinese, Russian and Japanese commands are supported. With other interface languages, use English commands. Voice commands can lock a clip, take a photo and operate common controls; spoken status notifications report camera or memory-card problems separately.
What does privacy mode retain?
It keeps only the latest 4 ordinary files for this 2-channel configuration. Leave privacy mode off when you want the normal recording history. Export important clips before changing recording settings or formatting the card.
Can I record to an external SSD?
No. This A229 Plus records to a microSD card, with supported capacity up to 512GB. The USB-C connector does not add the A329 family’s external-SSD recording feature. All connected cameras share the card in the front unit.
Should I update the front and rear firmware together?
Open our manuals and firmware hub and select A229 Plus. The front and rear use different files. VIOFO explicitly says not to update a functioning rear camera with its listed rear release; follow support instructions if troubleshooting a rear-camera problem. Back up clips and settings, maintain power and recheck recording, HDR, audio and parking after a front update. Current front instructions warn against downgrading.
What warranty comes with this new package?
The new VIOFO A229 Plus 2CH includes an 18-month manufacturer warranty. Refurbished products have their own listings and warranty terms. Read our warranty and returns terms for coverage and the claim process.
