Choose between dual 2K QHD recording and a 4K UHD front camera
Start with how you use the camera
The VIOFO A229 Plus and 70mai A810 put their detail in different places: the VIOFO records 2K QHD at the front and rear, while the A810 pairs a 4K UHD front view with a 1080P FHD rear view. That difference matters if you want useful detail behind the vehicle as well as ahead.
Compare both channels and the parking setup. We would also consider controls, storage and the way you retrieve a saved clip before choosing.
This is the original 70mai A810 comparison, not the newer A810S. Their power sources, rear cameras and specifications must not be mixed.
Screens, mounting and everyday controls
A229 Plus: compact wedge and 2.4-inch screen
The VIOFO front camera has a 2.4-inch screen with physical buttons, plus a separate rear camera. You can check the view and adjust settings on the camera.
A810: a larger front-camera screen
The original A810 has a 3-inch display and a separate rear camera. Check the rear-camera model included with the package you are considering.
4K UHD front versus 2K QHD at both ends
The A229 Plus uses Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensors for both its 2K QHD front and 2K QHD rear views. The A810 uses the Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 for its 4K UHD front view, with 1080P FHD rear recording in the supported dual-camera configuration.
That gives the A810 a higher front pixel count and the A229 Plus a higher rear pixel count. Neither number alone settles plate readability: exposure, motion, reflections and placement matter too.
The A229 Plus offers front 60 FPS with HDR off, or front-and-rear HDR at 30 FPS. The A810 also does not allow HDR and 60 FPS together. Check the exact camera firmware and selected resolution when comparing modes; a 60 FPS option is not a promise of 4K UHD HDR at 60 FPS.

Recording illustration
A compatible VIOFO CPL filter can reduce windshield reflections. The BlackboxMyCar Aqua Shield is another accessory to consider for the camera’s viewing area. Confirm compatibility and installation; accessories cannot guarantee clear detail in every condition.
Parking modes need the right power setup
A229 Plus: buffered events and continuous options
VIOFO’s Auto Event Detection retains 15 seconds before and 30 seconds after a detected event. Time-Lapse and Low Bitrate are different options for recording while parked.

Match the output cable, parking trigger and cutoff settings to the vehicle; available recording time depends on the complete setup.
A810: parking surveillance with the compatible kit
70mai specifies its UP03 hardwire kit for the original A810’s parking-surveillance functions, including AI motion detection and Time-Lapse. Confirm the exact supported options and power installation for your market.
The parking illustration marks a person as “SUSPICIOUS.” Check how events are saved and retrieved with your setup; this illustration is not a guarantee that every person will be recognised.
App access, location data and driver alerts
A229 Plus: voice controls and recorded GPS data
The A229 Plus offers voice controls, voice notifications and local dual-band 2.4GHz/5GHz Wi-Fi.

A810: app settings and ADAS alerts
The A810 provides app access, GPS and driver-assistance alerts, including lane-departure, forward-collision, moving-traffic and pedestrian/cyclist alerts. These are warnings, not a substitute for attention to the road.
Check resolution, clip length, HDR, anti-flicker and overlays after setup. The pictured example shows high-compression encoding, 3840 × 2160 at 30 FPS, one-minute clips, speed/location and logo overlays, and 60 Hz anti-flicker. Match those choices to your firmware and driving conditions rather than copying every pictured value.
Power source and storage matter too
The A229 Plus uses a supercapacitor. The original A810 has a built-in 500mAh battery; do not confuse it with the newer A810S. Neither arrangement replaces the continuous external power required for a parking setup.
We favour a supercapacitor when choosing a dash cam for heat exposure, but that does not prove that a particular A810 will overheat or fail. Follow the exact camera’s operating limits and installation requirements. Our supercapacitor and lithium-ion guide explains the distinction.
The A229 Plus supports microSD cards up to 512GB. Original A810 support specifies 32GB to 256GB U3-or-faster cards. Card capacity is a supported maximum, not a promise that a card is included or that recording will continue indefinitely. We recommend starting with the A229 Plus when rear-camera detail, voice controls and VIOFO’s parking options fit your needs. The original A810 deserves a look when higher front resolution and its driver alerts are the priorities.
Review the original A810 manufacturer information and 70mai A810 shopping options with care about the exact front/rear package. Do not substitute an A810S specification or assume a regional connected-service offer applies to you.

Does parking mode mean all-night recording?
No single runtime applies to every setup. Camera settings, power source, battery condition and vehicle use affect available recording time. Have the power arrangement matched to the camera and vehicle.
Can the A229 Plus use HDR and 60 FPS together?
No. On the A229 Plus, HDR uses 30 FPS; front-camera 60 FPS requires HDR off. Compare footage from your normal lighting and driving conditions; neither setting guarantees readable plates.
