BlackVue DR590X-1CH Full HD Dash Cam

The original BlackVue DR590X-1CH records the road ahead in 1080p at 60FPS through a 139° diagonal lens. Its Sony STARVIS sensor, compact cylindrical body and local Wi-Fi connection provide front-road recording without a built-in display.

The package includes a memory card, vehicle power cable and hardwiring cable. For new stock with a longer warranty, compare the BlackVue DR590X-1CH Plus.

Parking Mode

Original Full HD recording at 60FPS

The 2.1MP Sony STARVIS front sensor records 1920 × 1080 video at 60FPS. The original model’s lens covers 139° diagonally. Its built-in night vision helps capture dark scenes, but lighting, glare, speed and distance still affect readable detail.

Image-quality settings range from Normal at 8Mbps to Highest Extreme at 25Mbps. Higher bitrates use more card space. Review an original recording after installation, and choose settings based on the detail and recording time you need.

Parking recording with the included hardwire cable

For parking mode, the camera needs a suitable constant power source. The included three-wire hardwiring cable connects to the fuse panel and supplies the ignition signal. Enable battery protection and choose the voltage cutoff and timer for the vehicle.

Motion and impact triggers save parking events with buffered footage from before the trigger. When powered without an ignition signal, the camera can switch into parking mode after the vehicle remains stationary. A PowerCell 8 battery pack is an optional separate supply when used with the correct output connection.

Check the cable route before installation, especially if the fuse box is in the trunk. Our installation team can help assess an extension. Keep the camera and wiring clear of your view and airbag deployment areas.

Nearby Wi-Fi access and clear recording status

Connect your phone directly to the camera’s 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network to view the camera image, adjust settings and download clips in the BlackVue app. Use manual Wi-Fi registration; the original DR590X does not support Bluetooth seamless pairing.

This Wi-Fi connection does not provide remote internet access. Historical references to a future LTE-M module are not an included or currently offered remote-monitoring feature. An optional compatible GPS receiver adds speed and location to recorded footage; it does not turn the camera into a live vehicle tracker.

Spoken announcements and LEDs report recording and connection status. You can also use the included card reader and BlackVue Viewer on a compatible computer. Export important clips before loop recording overwrites them.

Current firmware and memory-card support

BlackVue now supports cards up to 512GB on the original DR590X with current firmware, even when older packaging or the original manual says 256GB. Use the original DR590X-1CH firmware download; the Plus and 2CH models use different files.

For front and rear recording in a new package, see the DR590X-2CH Plus. That model records at 30FPS per camera. This listing supplies one front camera only.

DR590X series sample footage

This BlackboxMyCar video shows the DR590X series, including dual-camera footage. The original 1CH model on this page records one front view at 60FPS; 2CH footage uses 30FPS per camera.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the DR590X Plus?

No. This is an original DR590X-1CH. It has a 139° diagonal lens and a 12-month warranty. The new DR590X-1CH Plus is a separate model and listing.

What condition is this unit in?

BlackboxMyCar Outlet products are tested, like new and backed by our in-house 10-point check. This unit includes a 12-month BlackboxMyCar warranty and our normal return policy.

Does it record front and rear video?

No. It records one forward view at 1080p and 60FPS. Choose a two-camera package such as the DR590X-2CH Plus if you need front and rear recording.

Can I watch my car from another location?

No remote live-view service is supplied or offered by this camera. Its Wi-Fi is for a nearby phone connection. Earlier launch material mentioned a future LTE-M accessory; do not buy this unit expecting that promised accessory or Cloud live viewing.

Does it have Bluetooth?

It does not support Bluetooth seamless pairing. Connect through the camera’s Wi-Fi network and use the manual registration method in the BlackVue app.

Is GPS included?

No. A compatible external GPS receiver is optional. It can add speed and location data to recorded clips. The camera records without GPS, and GPS logging is not remote tracking.

Is the hardwire kit included?

Yes. The listed package includes a BlackVue hardwiring cable and a vehicle power cable. Parking mode needs a suitable constant supply and the correct battery-protection settings.

Can the camera record while unplugged?

No. Its supercapacitor is backup power for safe shutdown, not a battery for continued recording. Driving and parking recording both need an external supply.

Why does the original manual say 256GB?

BlackVue later added 512GB support to the original DR590X series. Install current firmware before using the larger card, and use a suitable card designed for repeated dash-cam recording.

What happens when the card fills up?

Loop recording replaces older ordinary recordings. Transfer important clips to a phone or computer promptly. Back up the card before formatting it or making a settings change that may erase files.

Will night footage always show number plates clearly?

No. The Sony STARVIS sensor and built-in night vision can help in low light, but movement, distance, glare and exposure affect detail. Check a sample recording after mounting the camera.

Which firmware file should I use?

Choose the original DR590X-1CH firmware, not DR590X-1CH Plus or DR590X-2CH. Follow BlackVue’s update instructions, keep a backup of important clips and recheck the time zone and parking settings afterward.

What should I check before fitting the hardwire cable?

Confirm the fuse-box location, cable route, circuit choice and suitable cutoff settings. If the cable will not reach, contact us about the installation instead of assuming an extension for another camera brand will fit.

Can a separate battery pack power it?

Yes, with the correct camera output connection. The PowerCell 8 can supply the included cigarette adapter from its socket output, or use the matching hardwire output for ignition-triggered parking-mode switching.
