The mounting tapes run a little smaller than the OEM tape sizes. These tapes are still suitable, and will be effective. If a bigger tape is preferred, consider Thinkware Mounting Tape, which is larger and can be trimmed to your preference.

What is Parking Mode?

Parking mode is offered on most of the dash cams available at BlackboxMyCar. While it is important to protect your vehicle while driving, it is just as important to have your vehicle protected while it is parked. When the dash cam is in parking mode, footage will only be saved when there is an impact and/or motion. Parking mode can be enabled with a hardwiring kit or a battery pack.

What is a Hardwire Kit?

A hardwiring kit enables parking mode. It allows your dash cam to remain powered on even when the vehicle's ignition is turned off. Installation is a breeze as you will only need to find an accessory fuse, constant fuse, and a grounding point.

What is a Battery Pack?

Most customers purchase the battery pack to avoid using the vehicle’s battery to power their dash cam. The battery pack is charged by either being hardwired into an accessory fuse or by being plugged into one of the vehicle's 12-volt cigarette sockets. We recommend the hardwiring the battery pack as it charges the battery pack quicker.

On average, a 2-channel dash cam writes 16GB/hour and a 1-channel dash cam writes about 8GB/hour.

Do I need a Rear Camera?

Accidents or events don't always happen at the front of the vehicle! Having a rear camera provides coverage for any events or accidents that may happen at the rear of the vehicle.

An IR camera is designed to record the interior of the vehicle in low light conditions. This option is very popular among rideshare drivers.

What is a CPL filter?

A CPL filter attaches to the dash cam lens to eliminate lens flares, light reflections, and windshield glares.

Very disappointing. I ordered this expecting proper double-sided 3M tape, like the OEM version that originally came with the dash cam. Instead, I received small strips of light grey tape that looked terrible on the windshield — far too visible and not suitable for a clean install.

I had to peel it all off, which took a frustrating amount of time, and ended up buying proper black 3M tape from Canadian Tire to fix it. No idea why they wouldn’t just include the correct OEM-style material. A complete waste of time and money!

This product should be discontinued

This product should be discontinued. First, the tape isn’t the same size as the original mounting tape that came with the dash camera when I bought it years ago. It could be because of a design change, but I’m not sure. However, after a few days in the heat, this replacement BlackVue mounting tape failed, causing my dash cam to fall from my windshield. I never had that problem with the original tape on my old car. I don’t believe the issue was with the glass or dash cam, as I followed the same steps as the original mounting tape. In my opinion, it’s a waste of $10, and you’d be better off getting some 3M double-sided tape.

Just what the doctor ordered

My daughter had her windshield replaced. She tried various glues including rear view mirror adhesive to try and get her BlackVue dashcam back on the windshield but nothing worked. Then I found the tape on blackboxmycar and gave it a shot. As you might expect, it worked perfectly.

Great tape

After moving my dash cam to a new vehicle and using 2 sided tape, the heat from the sun weakened the adhesive. I got the proper tape and it works great. Camera stays in place even with the heat from the sun shining on the front window.

Awesome replacement!

With our Canadian winters come rock chips which mean annual windshield replacement. With the BlackVue official mounting tape it makes the dash camera stay secured. Before that I relied on the wind shield shop to use their tape and it was cheap and would come off after a couple of weeks.
