The BlackVue DR590X-1CH Plus records 1080p at 60FPS from a single front camera. Its Sony STARVIS front sensor, compact cylindrical body and local Wi-Fi connection suit drivers who want recorded footage without an on-camera screen or a remote-monitoring service.

The 60FPS mode captures motion more smoothly than 30FPS under suitable conditions. This package has no rear camera. For front and rear recording, compare the DR590X-2CH Plus.

The front camera pairs a 2.1MP Sony STARVIS sensor with 1920 × 1080 recording at 60FPS and a 131° diagonal view. It is a Full HD camera, not a 4K model.

Enhanced Night Vision can brighten dark footage. Lighting, movement, distance and windshield condition still affect readable detail, so check original clips after installation. Choose the image-quality setting to balance detail and storage. The highest Extreme setting uses up to 25Mbps, which fills a card faster than the lower settings.

Parking recording with a planned power supply

The included hardwiring cable connects to the vehicle’s fuse panel. With battery protection enabled, the camera switches into parking mode when the ignition signal turns off. Set the voltage cutoff and timer in the BlackVue app to suit the vehicle battery and installation.

Motion detection saves activity in the camera’s view, while the impact sensor marks bumps as events. Buffered recording keeps footage from before a trigger. Continued monitoring depends on available power; voltage protection reduces battery-drain risk but does not guarantee a start in every battery condition.

For a separate power source, the PowerCell 8 battery pack can supply the camera through the appropriate output connection. Use the socket output with the included cigarette-lighter adapter, or the matching hardwire output for ignition-triggered switching. The battery pack is sold separately.

Review footage nearby and check the camera’s status

Connect a nearby phone over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi to adjust settings, check the view and download clips in the BlackVue app. You can also use the included card reader with BlackVue Viewer on a compatible computer.

This model provides local video access, without remote Cloud viewing or LTE connectivity. The FAQ explains QR-code or manual Wi-Fi setup.

The mount lets you adjust the viewing angle, and LEDs plus spoken announcements report recording status. Check the angle and microphone setting after fitting the camera. Keep the camera and routed cable clear of your view and airbag deployment areas.

GPS and everyday recording

The compatible external BlackVue GPS receiver adds speed and location data to recorded footage. It is optional and is not included with this store package. GPS logging does not provide remote vehicle tracking.

Video is saved as H.264 MP4 files to a microSD card. The camera supports 32 to 512GB cards with current firmware. Normal loop recordings are overwritten as space is needed, so export important clips promptly. Check the exact DR590X-1CH Plus firmware and current app before installation; firmware for the original DR590X is a different download.

What is the difference between the 1CH and 2CH Plus?

The DR590X-1CH Plus records a single front view at 1080p and 60FPS. The DR590X-2CH Plus records front and rear views at 1080p and 30FPS each. Choose based on the views you need, rather than assuming both models have the same frame rate.

Can I watch my car remotely with this model?

No. Its Wi-Fi connects a nearby phone directly to the camera. The DR590X-1CH Plus does not offer remote live viewing, LTE connectivity or remote vehicle tracking. GPS, if added, records location information for playback.

Does it have Bluetooth?

No Bluetooth seamless pairing is supported on the DR590X Plus series. Use the BlackVue app’s manual Wi-Fi setup or the QR-code registration option when supplied on the packaging.

Is GPS included?

No. Our DR590X-1CH Plus package uses an optional external GPS receiver, sold separately. The camera can record without it; add the compatible receiver if you want speed and location data in your footage.

Is the hardwire cable included?

Yes. This package includes the BlackVue hardwiring cable as well as a cigarette-lighter power adapter. A battery pack is optional. Use the installation method and settings appropriate for your vehicle.

Will it record when the ignition is off?

It needs a suitable constant power source. With the included hardwire cable correctly installed and battery protection enabled, the ignition signal triggers parking mode. The voltage cutoff or timer can stop recording to protect the vehicle battery. The supercapacitor does not power overnight recording.

What does parking mode save?

Motion-and-impact mode buffers video and saves activity detected in the camera’s view or by the impact sensor. The current BlackVue settings manual also describes a time-lapse option, recording one frame per second with normal-speed impact events. Available settings depend on installed firmware; check the exact Plus-series manual and update first.

How can I reduce unwanted parking events?

Adjust the motion and G-sensor sensitivity for where you park. Passing traffic, rain or moving foliage can trigger motion recordings. Review test clips after changing settings, and keep enough storage for the events that matter to you.

Is a memory card included, and what size can I use?

A 32GB BlackVue microSD card and reader are included. The camera supports 32 to 512GB with current firmware. Use a suitable endurance-rated card and check BlackVue’s card guidance before replacing it.

How do I protect an important clip?

Download or copy it to another device promptly. Loop recording overwrites ordinary footage as the card fills. The event-lock setting protects a limited number of event files; it is not permanent storage. Back up clips before formatting or changing settings that can erase the card.

Can I add a rear camera to this 1CH package?

This listing is a front-only system. For an included, supported front-and-rear setup, choose the DR590X-2CH Plus package rather than buying a rear camera on the assumption that it can be added to this unit.

Does it guarantee readable number plates at night?

No. The Sony STARVIS front sensor and Enhanced Night Vision help in low light, but motion, glare, distance and exposure affect detail. Review a sample original recording after installation and keep the lens and windshield clean.

Do I need a subscription to record and download clips?

No subscription is needed for local memory-card recording or nearby Wi-Fi access. Any optional account-based app storage is separate and does not turn this camera into a remotely connected BlackVue Cloud model.

Can I use it with a battery pack?

Yes, with a compatible supply and output connection. The PowerCell 8 can power the included cigarette-lighter adapter from its socket output. Use the appropriate hardwire output when you want ignition-triggered switching; the camera can also enter parking mode after remaining stationary.

Which firmware should I download?

Use the DR590X-1CH Plus download, not the original DR590X or a different channel-count model. Check the manufacturer’s release page, back up important recordings and follow the update instructions. Recheck the time zone, video settings and parking protection afterward.

DR590x-2CH number two.

A month ago my wife was in an accident in her car, another driver went through a red and t-boned her Subaru. Police officer took the report and said with conflicting stories from both drivers and no dashcams it would be assessed as her failing to clear the intersection.

The next day I ordered a DR590x-2CH for her new car. I had a DR590-2ch for the last 3 years in my Tacoma and love it, it's been extremely useful and I've provided clips to others when I see accidents. Parking mode is great, I still use a PMP but look at battery packs as the next upgrade.

I installed the new cam and it's already a relief to have it. We are headed out for a two week roadtrip and I'm glad that it's coming with us.

Pretty good Wifi could be better

Once I got it all figured out, it will do fine. I’m basically using it as a security cam in the dash in my drive way. It’s hardwired to my house, so power not a problem. I just ordered a 2nd one. Wi-Fi is as they say a bit iffy. Range is not great. Have to keep initializing button on camera. But it records over 24 hours on high resolution. I will catch anything going on. My house security cam is pointing at my car so….

Reliable, but the wifi connection can take some getting used to.

If you are looking a reliable and on budget dash cam. BlackVue DR590X- 1CH is a good choice. I have used this dash cam for 3-4 years. I recently bought this one for my in-laws and they love it. I purchased the Blackvue DR590X-2CH to replace another that had a problem after several years of use. It’s not 4K like my last dash cam. But the picture quality is still amazing. I had the power wire from the engine compartment into the passenger compartment of my Ram already. So to remove my old dash cam and replace it with this dash cam and new dash cam wiring maybe took 15 minutes tops.
