VIOFO A129 Duo IR Front & Cabin Dash Cam

The original VIOFO A129 Duo IR records the road ahead and the passenger area in Full HD at 30FPS. A separate four-LED infrared camera records inside the cabin at night, while the front unit’s 2-inch display handles aiming and settings. Choose this package for front-and-interior coverage with GPS and local phone playback.

Full HD road and infrared cabin recording

Both cameras record 1920 × 1080 at 30FPS when connected. The front lens covers 140° and the cabin lens covers 160°; both use Sony STARVIS sensors and F1.6 lenses. WDR helps balance bright and shaded areas. This is the original Full HD model, not the 2K A129 Plus Duo IR.

The cabin lens rotates through 180°. Its four IR LEDs have three settings: Mono keeps infrared on, Auto responds to ambient light, and IR Color switches infrared off. Infrared footage is black and white. Check the angle with occupants and seats in their normal positions.

Parking power uses the Mini-USB connection

Add the optional Mini-USB HK3 hardwire kit for constant power, an ignition signal and low-voltage cutoff. The USB-C HK4 and HK6 kits do not plug directly into this camera. Connect the correct power, ignition and ground circuits, then verify the change from driving to parking recording.

A switched vehicle socket stops powering the camera when it turns off. The supercapacitor helps finish the last file; it is not an overnight battery. Available power, cutoff, temperature and settings determine how long recording continues.

Three parking modes for different needs

Auto Event Detection supports buffered clips with current original-IR firmware. VIOFO specifies 15 seconds before and 30 seconds after detected activity. Time-lapse records continuously at a low frame rate without audio, while low-bitrate mode records continuous video with audio.

These modes cover the supplied front and cabin views. They do not send remote phone alerts. Review a saved parking clip after installation to check both views.

GPS, local Wi-Fi and files you can keep

The GPS mount records location, speed and time for compatible playback. It does not track the vehicle remotely. Connect a nearby phone over 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi for VIOFO app settings, playback and downloads. There is no built-in LTE or cloud service.

Use a high-endurance microSD card up to 256GB. The front unit stores both views on one card. Format it in the camera after backing up files, and power off before removing it. The screen saver can turn off the display while recording continues.

Reduce reflections and choose your coverage

The optional CPL-100 front filter fits the original A129 front lens. Choose the A119/A129/A119 Mini front option in the selector. CPL-200 for A139/A229-size lenses is a different fit. Adjust the filter against dashboard reflections and check recordings in daylight and low light.

If you want a rear road view as well as the front and cabin, compare the A229 Plus 3CH. That is a complete newer three-camera system. Its cameras, cables and firmware are not substitutes for this original A129 kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the original A129 Duo IR or A129 Plus Duo IR?

This is the original A129 Duo IR with Full HD front and cabin recording. The later A129 Plus Duo IR uses different 2K front hardware. Choose firmware and replacement parts by the camera model, not a similar product name.

Can both cameras record at 60FPS?

No. With the cabin camera connected, both views record Full HD at 30FPS. The front camera can use 60FPS when the cabin camera is disconnected.

Does the second camera record the rear road?

This package supplies an infrared cabin camera for passenger-area recording. It does not add a third, rear-road view. For all three directions, compare the A229 Plus 3CH.

How do the infrared settings work?

Mono keeps the four IR LEDs on and records a black-and-white cabin image. Auto responds to ambient light. IR Color switches the LEDs off. Test your chosen setting with the vehicle interior dark and the camera aimed at the seating area.

Is the hardwire kit included?

No. Add the optional Mini-USB HK3 hardwire kit for the camera’s Mini-USB connection and parking-mode ignition sensing. USB-C HK4 and HK6 cables do not connect directly.

Does it save footage from before a parking trigger?

Yes, Auto Event Detection supports buffered parking with current original-IR firmware. VIOFO specifies 15 seconds before and 30 seconds after detected activity. Time-lapse and low bitrate are separate modes; continued operation needs suitable external power.

Which card should I use?

Choose a high-endurance microSD card up to 256GB and format it in the camera before use. Both views share that card. Back up incident files before formatting or allowing loop recording to reuse their space.

Does GPS or Wi-Fi work as remote tracking?

No. GPS saves location and speed with recordings; Wi-Fi connects a nearby phone to the camera. This model does not have a built-in LTE modem, cloud connection or remote parking-alert service.

Can audio recording be switched off?

Yes. Use the microphone control or Record Audio setting, then review a saved clip to confirm sound is disabled. Changing audio does not remove the need to check both video views.

Why has the display gone dark?

The screen saver can turn off the LCD while recording continues. Check the recording indicator and a saved clip before assuming the camera has stopped. Card errors or unexpected stops need investigation.

Which filter fits the front camera?

Use the optional CPL-100 front filter and select the A119/A129/A119 Mini front fit. CPL-200 for A139/A229-size front lenses is not the same part. Adjust the filter while checking reflections in recorded footage.

Does it have HDR or voice commands?

The original A129 Duo IR provides WDR. Its controls are the camera buttons and nearby-phone app; it does not accept voice commands. Newer A129 Plus firmware and features should not be applied to this model.

Which firmware should I download?

Use the original A129 Duo IR firmware page, which lists V1.04 and the FWA129.bin file. Other A129 variants can use similar filenames, so the download page matters. The update instructions recommend a 16GB to 128GB FAT32 card. Back up files and keep power stable during the update.

How should I mount and check the cabin camera?

Use its rotating lens and the front unit’s live display to aim at the passenger area. Keep the view clear of seats and headrests, route wiring clear of airbags and moving trim, and check daylight and dark-cabin recordings before relying on the setup.

What condition is this unit in?

BlackboxMyCar Outlet products are tested, like new and backed by our in-house 10-point check. This unit includes a 12-month BlackboxMyCar warranty and our normal return policy. See our warranty and Outlet terms for coverage and claims.

What else should I check before ordering?

Memory card, Mini-USB HK3 hardwire kit, CPL filter and remote are sold separately.
