Which capacity should I choose, and what comes with it?
BlackboxMyCar Guaranteed options are 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. VIOFO Industrial options are 128GB and 256GB. The selector shows current availability for each option; these are individual cards, not a multi-card pack. Each option supplies one card. VIOFO’s Industrial package includes a full-size SD adapter. A separate USB reader is not included, and an adapter for a BlackboxMyCar card is not promised by this listing.
Will every card work with my dash cam?
No. Check the exact camera’s supported capacity and recommended card type. Older cameras may have lower capacity limits. A physically fitting microSD card is not proof of supported recording performance. A suitable card can store parking footage when the camera supports that mode and has the required power supply. The card itself does not power the camera or activate parking mode. Continuous recording consumes card space and adds write cycles.
How do capacity and speed affect recording?
Recording time depends on the total bitrate, number of camera channels and selected recording mode. At unchanged settings, a larger card keeps more footage before loop recording replaces older unlocked clips. Do not use one camera’s duration estimate for another. The card must meet the camera’s write requirements, but extra speed does not change the lens, sensor, resolution or configured bitrate. Read speed mainly affects file transfers, while sustained write capability matters during recording.
Do VIOFO speed ratings apply to BlackboxMyCar cards?
No. Specifications belong to the selected brand and capacity. The VIOFO Industrial options have their own published ratings; confirm the current BlackboxMyCar card specification if your camera requires a particular speed class.
How should I format and maintain the card?
Back up existing files, insert the card with the camera off, then use the camera’s format function. Follow the camera’s instructions for the required file system rather than assuming that the factory format is suitable. Check that recent files play correctly and follow the camera manufacturer’s formatting schedule. Review it after a card warning, a firmware update or a change in recording behaviour. Copy important files before formatting. Save readable recordings first. Confirm the card is supported, then follow the camera’s formatting and troubleshooting instructions. If the warning returns, test a known-compatible card. Our BlackVue card troubleshooting guide addresses BlackVue-specific symptoms.
Can I copy recordings directly to my phone?
That depends on the phone and a compatible reader or the camera’s own Wi-Fi features. The card has no wireless connection. For computer transfers, choose a compatible microSD reader and copy the files before editing them.
What warranty applies?
BlackboxMyCar Guaranteed cards have a one-year in-house warranty. VIOFO Industrial cards have VIOFO’s one-year memory-card warranty. A dash cam warranty is a separate policy; always keep another copy of important footage.
