Cellink NEO Extended Battery Pack Install Guide

If you’re using a BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8 or Cellink NEO dash cam battery pack, you might have also considered adding an extra layer of peace of mind through the Cellink NEO Extended Battery Pack.

As the top extended battery pack in the industry, the Cellink NEO EXT is a great addition if you want to extend your parking mode protection even longer, with full convenience through a mobile app. Seamlessly daisy-chaining onto your existing battery in seconds!

The new Cellink NEO Extended Battery Packs version has had their capacity upgraded from a previous 6,600 mAh to 6,800mAh. Moreover, it now comes with a USB port and an ON/OFF power switch, making it even more user-friendly, and allowing you to connect additional items via USB.

Additionally, through the Cellink Neo Plus App for the BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8, users can monitor the status of the battery pack in real time. Rest assured, even if it’s not shown in the app yet, as long as the extended battery is connected to the main battery, and both are turned on, it’s up and running.

In this article, we will talk about the Cellink NEO Extended Battery Pack – how it works, how to install, and how it can help your drives (and parking) be safer and secure. Wondering whether you should get one? We answered your question here.

Cellink NEO Extended Battery Pack Install Guide

If you’re wondering what it looks like, the Regular NEO and the Extended batteries have the same size and design. The two batteries are connected by a single wire harness and can both be managed through the mobile app. However, it’s only the Main Battery Pack and not the EXTENDED one that has Bluetooth, so this feature is mainly reliant on the main battery.

Moreover, the Cellink NEO Extended battery comes with a single dual-sided 2ft XT60 Male connector cable that is meant to be used to connect one of the two female in/out ports on the EXT Battery to the main unit. You’ll want to connect the connecting cable for your EXT battery pack to the Auto-In port of the EXT battery. While this is not required, it will automatically update the battery pack capacity in the Bluetooth app, showing the total capacity of both battery packs. This can be done manually in the settings of the battery app, through the gear symbol in the top right.

The only difference with the Auto-In port is that it will automatically update the battery pack capacity, nothing else.

If more than 1 EXT battery pack is connected, then the total capacity of the batteries will need to be set manually. Since these two devices stacked could be bulky, we recommend keeping them under the seat, in the trunk, or in the glovebox. You can make sure they stick together with the included dual-sided velcro straps.

Charging Ordering with an Expansion Pack

Now, you might be wondering, what charges first? The Expansion Pack or the Main Battery? The simple answer is: Both!

Yes, both battery packs will act as one, larger battery, charging in parity, ensuring they both rest at the same level. If your Main Battery is pre-charged, while your Expansion Pack is discharged, then the Main Battery will feed power until the Expansion Pack’s charge level matches its own, evening out.

Therefore, when looking at the battery capacity in the app, you can treat it as the single, cumulative charge of both batteries.
