VIOFO A329 2CH 4K Front + 2K Rear Dash Cam

The original VIOFO A329 2CH records 4K front video at up to 60FPS and 2K rear video at 30FPS. Its Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, 2.4-inch screen and local Wi-Fi 6 give you several ways to aim the camera and review footage. Select 4K 30FPS for front HDR. This is a front-and-rear package.

Choose microSD or external SSD recording, and add a compatible hardwire kit for automatic parking mode. The original A329 uses its own firmware; it is different from the newer A329S 2CH.

Original A329 front and rear cameras

The front camera uses an 8MP Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 sensor, a 1/1.8-inch sensor format and an F1.8 lens with a 140° view. The rear camera adds a 5MP STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor, 160° coverage and 2K 30FPS recording. There is no cabin camera in this package.

At 4K 60FPS, motion appears smoother. At 4K 30FPS, front HDR can balance bright highlights and dark areas. Position the camera in a clean, wiper-cleared part of the windshield and inspect original daytime and nighttime clips. Lighting, distance and speed still affect readable detail.

HDR and low-light settings

Front HDR requires 30FPS; it is off when recording at 4K 60FPS. Rear HDR is supported at 2K 30FPS. The rear HDR timer follows the front timer when Auto is selected.

The included CPL-200 front filter can reduce dashboard reflections when adjusted correctly. Check the view after fitting it, including at night. The HDR picture illustrates exposure balance rather than promising that every plate will be readable. Night Vision is a separate option for 1FPS time-lapse parking recording.

Voice commands and recording alerts

Use spoken commands to lock a video, take a photo, start recording or switch Wi-Fi, audio and the screen. The current manual lists English, Chinese, Russian and Japanese commands; other interface languages use English voice commands. Test them while parked, since cabin noise can affect recognition.

Voice notifications report camera status and card errors. Current firmware also offers critical alerts only. The optional BTR200 Bluetooth remote provides a physical clip-lock button and configurable controls.

Local Wi-Fi 6 and recorded GPS data

Connect a nearby phone through 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi to preview footage and download recordings in the VIOFO app. Stop recording before changing camera settings, then resume recording after checking them. Wi-Fi 6 transfer speed depends on the phone, interference and file size. The 2.4-inch camera screen provides another way to frame the view and check recordings.

The GPS mount saves location and speed with video when a satellite signal is available. Review the recorded route with compatible software. GPS is not a live tracking service, and the A329 has no LTE modem or cloud connection for remote viewing.

Parking recording and battery controls

Use the separately sold HK4 or HK6 through the GPS-mount power port for automatic parking mode. The side USB-C data/SSD port does not provide the hardwire parking connection. Set the voltage cutoff and timer for your vehicle and test the installation.

  • Auto Event Detection: buffered clips capture footage before and after detected activity.
  • Time-lapse: continuous recording at a reduced frame rate, without audio; 1FPS supports Night Vision.
  • Low bitrate: continuous video and audio in smaller files.

Current A329 firmware adds HK6-dependent vehicle-voltage display and battery-protection settings. Its geofencing setting can skip parking recording in up to three designated areas; with weak or lost GPS, it enters parking mode instead. Parking-impact notifications are delivered at the next startup, not to a remote phone. Runtime depends on available power, temperature and settings.

MicroSD or portable SSD recording

Use a compatible high-endurance microSD card up to 512GB, or a compatible portable SSD up to 4TB with the dedicated VIOFO SSD cable. Choose one recording destination: the A329 does not mirror recordings to both at once. You can select a separate destination for parking files and use the menu to back up microSD recordings to an SSD.

Format the SSD to exFAT and secure it where it will not obstruct driving. VIOFO recommends 0°C to 60°C for SSD operation. Verify the exact drive and cable against VIOFO’s current compatibility guidance before buying. Loop recording still replaces older ordinary files, so export important originals promptly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the original A329 or the A329S?

This is the original A329 2CH front-and-rear package. The A329S is a different model with different firmware and parking options. Use the exact A329 download and manual linked below.

Can front HDR and 4K 60FPS run together?

No. Front HDR uses 4K 30FPS. Use 4K 60FPS with HDR off. The rear camera records 2K at 30FPS and supports HDR.

What do I need for automatic parking mode?

Use HK4 or HK6 through the GPS-mount power port, with fuse taps matched to the vehicle. Both are separate purchases. The camera’s side USB-C data port is not the hardwire parking input. HK6 is required for the current vehicle-voltage display and battery-protection menu settings.

Does parking mode save footage before an event?

Yes. Buffered Auto Event Detection saves footage before and after detected activity. Continuous power is required. Time-lapse and low-bitrate recording are separate choices. Power, temperature and settings limit recording time.

Will I get a parking-impact alert on my phone?

No. Current firmware reports a detected parking impact at the next startup. It does not send remote phone alerts. The manual excludes impacts within three minutes of entering or leaving parking mode from protected event recording to reduce door-closing false alarms.

What does parking geofencing do?

You can designate up to three areas where parking recording is unnecessary. The camera shuts down instead of entering parking mode in those areas. It enters parking mode outside them or if GPS is weak or unavailable. Verify the feature and the selected zones after updating firmware.

Can the camera record to microSD and SSD simultaneously?

No. Select one recording destination. A separate parking-file destination can be chosen, and the settings menu can back up existing microSD files to an SSD. The card limit is 512GB; the SSD limit is 4TB with a compatible drive and dedicated VIOFO SSD cable.

Is the supplied USB-C data cable a power or SSD cable?

No. The supplied data cable is for file transfer. Use the vehicle charger or a compatible hardwire kit for camera power. External recording requires the dedicated VIOFO SSD cable. A matching connector alone does not establish compatibility.

Does GPS or Wi-Fi provide remote live viewing?

No. GPS saves position and speed with footage, and Wi-Fi connects a nearby phone. Neither supplies cellular connectivity. The A329 does not provide cloud monitoring or live vehicle tracking.

Which filter is included?

A CPL-200 front polarizing filter is included. A rear CPL-500 is optional. Choose the exact model on our VIOFO CPL filters page and check your saved view after adjustment.

What is privacy mode?

With privacy mode enabled, the camera retains only the latest four ordinary video files. Leave it off if you want normal loop-recording history. Save important footage separately before changing storage settings.

How do I update the original A329?

Download the exact model’s firmware from the BlackboxMyCar manuals and firmware guide, selecting A329. Back up recordings and settings first. Follow the microSD update procedure with stable power; firmware cannot be installed through an external SSD. The current release resets settings, and VIOFO advises against downgrading. Recheck recording, time, HDR, storage and parking settings afterwards.

What condition is this unit in?

BlackboxMyCar Outlet products are tested, like new and backed by our in-house 10-point check. This unit includes a 12-month BlackboxMyCar warranty and our normal return policy.

What else should I check before ordering?

Memory card, portable SSD, dedicated SSD cable, hardwire kit and Bluetooth remote are sold separately.
