BlackVue ELITE 8-1CH: 2K HDR Front Dash Cam

The BlackVue ELITE 8-1CH records the road ahead in 2K QHD at 30FPS with a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor and HDR. It is a front-only kit for drivers who want a compact camera with GPS, app access and optional parking recording.

The screenless camera connects to your phone over dual-band Wi-Fi. The package includes a 64GB microSD card, USB-C power cable and vehicle adapter for driving. This new BlackVue dash cam has a two-year warranty.

2K HDR for the road ahead

The front camera records 2560 × 1440 at 30FPS through a 142° diagonal lens. HDR helps balance exposure when the scene contains bright and dark areas. This package has no rear or cabin camera.

Readable detail depends on lighting, speed, distance and installation. Aim the camera after mounting and review original files. A compatible BlackVue CPL-2 front filter can reduce dashboard reflections and is sold separately.

For a complete front-and-rear setup, choose the ELITE 8-2CH kit.

Use less power between parked impacts

Power Saving mode enters standby and wakes when it detects an impact. BlackVue specifies less than 1mA at 12V while waiting, with recording beginning within about two seconds after detection. This mode has no pre-impact buffer.

The standby figure does not describe consumption while recording. Event frequency, connected accessories, temperature and the available power supply affect runtime.

Parking power hardware is separate. A compatible BlackVue B-130A battery pack can power the camera independently of the vehicle battery. Set the timer and voltage protection appropriately for your setup.

Choose buffered footage or a time-lapse overview

Motion Detection mode buffers video continuously and saves triggered activity. Supported buffered events include ten seconds before the trigger, which can help explain what happened before contact.

Time Lapse records one frame per second for an accelerated overview. Both modes use more power than impact-only standby. Choose the mode for the footage you need and check it with a saved test recording.

GPS and the G-sensor support driving-event tags such as impacts, hard braking, acceleration, cornering and overspeed. You can adjust event sensitivity to suit your vehicle.

Review clips nearby or add Cloud access

Built-in 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi connects the camera to the BlackVue app for live view, settings and downloads. Bluetooth assists pairing, while GPS and GLONASS provide location information. The app image illustrates the recording list; the interface can change with app updates.

Nearby Wi-Fi access does not need a cellular plan. Remote Cloud features require internet at the camera through a compatible hotspot or the separate BlackVue CM100G LTE module. The ELITE 8 has no built-in LTE modem. A supported regional SIM/data plan and any paid Cloud service are separate.

Remote access depends on power and connectivity. Power Saving sleeps between impacts, so select an appropriate continuously powered mode when you need ongoing remote access.

Set up power and save the recordings you need

The supplied USB-C cable and vehicle adapter power driving recordings. BlackVue specifies that this connection does not support parking mode. Use a separate compatible hardwiring kit or battery installation for recording with the engine off. Our installation guides explain mounting and cable-routing considerations.

The ELITE 8 records H.264 MP4 video. It supports compatible BlackVue microSD cards up to 1TB. The included card is 64GB. At default High quality, the front records at 20Mbps; BlackVue estimates about 6 hours 5 minutes of footage on 64GB.

Loop recording replaces older files. Up to 50 event files can be protected from normal overwrite, but formatting deletes them. Export important originals and use a compatible replacement memory card. The camera operates from −20°C to 65°C and can shut down if it overheats.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which cameras are included?

This kit includes one 2K front camera. It does not include a rear or interior camera.

Does it record in 4K?

No. The front camera records 2560 × 1440 at 30FPS. The ELITE 9 is an alternative when you want 4K front recording.

Does it support HDR?

Yes. The front camera has HDR and a Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor.

Is a hardwiring kit included?

No. The included USB-C power cable and vehicle adapter support driving recording. Purchase compatible parking power hardware separately.

Can USB-C power run parking mode?

No. BlackVue specifies that the USB-C connection does not support parking mode. Use a compatible hardwire kit or battery installation.

Does Power Saving capture footage before an impact?

No. It wakes after impact detection and begins recording within about two seconds. Choose a buffered mode if earlier activity matters.

What does less than 1mA mean?

It describes standby consumption at 12V in Power Saving. Recording and connected accessories draw additional power, so this is not a continuous-recording consumption figure.

How long can it record while parked?

Runtime depends on available battery capacity, recording mode, detected events, temperature and cutoff settings. The camera does not guarantee a fixed number of days.

How do Motion Detection and Time Lapse differ?

Motion Detection buffers video and saves triggered activity. Time Lapse records one frame per second for a faster review of the parked scene. Both use more power than impact-only standby.

Does the camera have built-in LTE?

No. Cloud access needs a compatible hotspot or a separate CM100G LTE module, supported regional SIM and data plan.

Can I download videos without cellular service?

Yes. Connect nearby over Wi-Fi through the BlackVue app to view and download clips. Cellular service is needed only if you choose a cellular internet connection for remote features.

Does the ELITE 8 support H.265?

No. It uses H.264 / AVC and saves MP4 files. The ELITE 9 and ELITE 10 offer H.265 as an additional option.

What size memory card can I use?

Compatible BlackVue microSD cards up to 1TB are supported. This front-only kit includes a 64GB card.

Can protected event files still be lost?

Yes. Protection keeps up to 50 event files from normal loop overwrite, but formatting erases them. Keep a separate backup of important recordings.

Can the camera keep recording in extreme heat?

It can stop recording when thermal protection activates. The operating range is −20°C to 65°C; the roughly 70°C cutoff does not extend the continuous-use rating.

What warranty applies to this new dash cam?

This new BlackVue dash cam has a two-year warranty.

Is a CPL filter included?

No. The compatible BlackVue CPL-2 front filter is sold separately. It can reduce dashboard reflections; it does not eliminate every reflection.

Hardwiring kit, battery pack, CPL filter, LTE module and SIM/data plan are sold separately.

I have a DR750-2CH where the front camera has become blurry. Can I buy a an Elite 8 1CH and plug in my existing rear camera to create a 2 channel system?

BlackboxMyCar

Unfortunately, the Elite 8 utilizes a unique rear camera and cable. It is not compatible with the rear cameras or cables from the DR series.
