Stunning 2K QHD with Sony STARVIS 2

The BlackVue Elite 8 sets a new standard for mid-range dash cams by integrating the powerful Sony STARVIS 2 technology. This allows the camera to record in 2K resolution, delivering sharper images and clearer details than standard 1080p cameras. Whether it is reading license plates or capturing road signs, the Elite 8 ensures your footage is evidence-ready.

The STARVIS 2 sensors significantly improve dynamic range. This means better visibility in high-contrast situations—like driving into direct sunlight or exiting a dark tunnel—for both front and rear cameras. It is a major upgrade for drivers who demand professional-grade video quality without the massive file sizes of 4K.

Ultra-Low Power Parking Mode

Protect your vehicle for longer. The BlackVue Elite 8 features a revolutionary Parking Mode that consumes less than 1mA of energy in standby. The dash cam remains in a deep sleep state until the built-in sensor detects an impact, at which point it wakes up instantly to record the incident.

This efficiency drastically reduces the strain on your car battery, allowing for weeks of parking surveillance on a single charge. It is the perfect solution for drivers who leave their vehicles parked for extended periods. For even more protection, you can pair your BlackVue with a BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8 Battery Pack.

Enhanced Night Vision with Dual HDR

Driving at night can be dangerous, but the BlackVue Elite 8 acts as your reliable witness. Thanks to the superior low-light sensitivity of the STARVIS 2 architecture and built-in Dual HDR, the dash cam minimizes noise and motion blur in dark environments.

HDR technology automatically balances the exposure, toning down blinding headlights and brightening dark alleyways. This ensures that even in the toughest lighting conditions, your video evidence from the front and rear remains clear and usable for insurance claims.

Looking for extended parking mode coverage?

For extended parking modes, it is recommended to use a dedicated battery pack such as the BlackVue Ultra Battery (B-130A) or the BlackboxMyCar PowerCell 8.

Cloud Connectivity and Wi-Fi

Stay connected to your car wherever you go. The BlackVue Elite 8 is compatible with the optional LTE Connectivity Module, unlocking the full suite of BlackVue Cloud features. You can receive push notifications on your phone the moment an impact is detected, or check the live view via Wi-Fi.

Even without the LTE module, the built-in Wi-Fi allows you to seamlessly connect your smartphone to the camera. Using the app, you can easily review footage, change settings, and download videos without ever removing the SD card from your dash cam.

The BlackVue CM100G LTE Module is compatible with 4G SIM cards from the following networks: AT&T, T-Mobile, Telus, Rogers, Bell.

Massive 1TB Storage Support

Despite recording in high-definition 2K QHD, the BlackVue Elite ensures you never run out of space. It supports microSD cards up to 1TB, an industry-leading capacity that allows you to store weeks of driving footage.

The system utilizes Loop Recording to automatically overwrite the oldest non-protected files when the card is full, ensuring continuous operation. This makes the Elite 8 an excellent choice for fleet managers and road-trippers who need extensive recording history.

Mobile app interface displaying video recordings with timestamps and event types.

Built to Last. Backed with Confidence.

Every BlackVue Elite 8 2CH comes with an extended 2-year Manufacturer Warranty, giving you double the coverage and twice the peace of mind. It’s our commitment to reliability, so you can drive knowing your investment is protected—mile after mile.

FAQs

What is the difference between the Elite 8 and Elite 9?

The main difference is resolution. The Elite 9 records in 4K using the IMX678 sensor, while the Elite 8 records in 2K using the IMX675 sensor. Both feature the new Power Saving Mode and STARVIS 2 technology, making the Elite 8 an excellent high-value alternative.

Does the Elite 8 come with a rear camera?

Yes, this is a 2-Channel system, meaning it includes both the Front Camera and a Rear Camera to cover the back of your vehicle. The Rear Camera connects to the front unit via the included coaxial cable.

Do I need to buy the LTE module separately?

Yes. The BlackVue Elite is "Cloud Ready," meaning it has the port to connect the LTE module, but the module itself (CM100G) is sold separately. You can purchase it here: BlackVue CM100G LTE Module.

How efficient is the Parking Mode?

It is extremely efficient. In the Power Saving state, the camera consumes less than 1mA. This is significantly lower than most other dash cams on the market, allowing it to stay on standby for weeks without draining your car's battery.

Can I install this myself?

Absolutely. The Elite 8 includes a hardwiring kit for a clean installation into your fuse box. If you prefer professional help or want to see how it looks in a vehicle, check our Dash Cam Installation Gallery or visit our Installation Hub for guides.

What size SD card do I need?

For 2K recording, a 64GB or 128GB card is a good starting point for daily driving. If you plan to use Parking Mode extensively or want to keep footage for longer, we recommend upgrading to a 256GB or larger card.

Does it have a screen?

No. Like most BlackVue models, the Elite 8 uses a sleek, cylindrical design without a screen to remain discreet. You can view all footage from the front and rear via the free app using Wi-Fi.

5th Blackview - not sure I would purchase again.

I have had 4 Blackview dashcams and all of them failed with differnt problems and design issues, Hoping this one might be a bit better. It has a micro-USB port - how old is that design? The micro SD card is tricky to get it to latch in. You have to push it in deeply, or it pops off in a little while and the unit indicates "No SD card installed, restarting". The OBD power wiring failed to work for my 2026 RAM 1500. You may have better luck. The hard wiring kit was then used. The fuse adapter is standard automotive grade (good) but the 24 or 28 gauge wire from the Cam is so thin the crimp has to be perfect or the wire will pull out. (I have a top grade crimper, so add that to the cost.) If I did this again I would match the connection differently - crimp to solder - as I have an electronics background (and extensive automotive experience). The off button has to be held for 5 seconds (if you really want it shut down), which is very annoying. By the time all the extras were added, tack on another 80% to the price, making this a very expensive cam. Might be better off to purchase 2 or 3 cheaper ones which would last at least as long as the Blackviews for the same cost. I have another less expensive brand in another car and it has more features than this one, except for the low power parking mode. The long run will tell.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, Ron. We’re glad you’re giving the Elite 8 a try, and we appreciate you sharing both your installation notes and compatibility findings. To clarify, the micro-USB port is used specifically for BlackVue’s CM100G LTE module, which was introduced in 2022. For the microSD card, removing the camera from the mount can make inserting or removing the card easier. We also appreciate you letting us know the OBD power cable did not work with your 2026 RAM 1500. We’ll add that to our not-compatible list, and if you’d like to return the OBD cable or need help with anything else, please contact us directly. BlackVue is also the only brand in our lineup that includes a 2-year warranty standard, so we’re here to support you if any issues come up.

Are all BlackVue wiring kits universal? Can I reuse my cables from my BlackVue DR750X-2CH?

BlackboxMyCar

Yes, most BlackVue wiring kits are universal within the X, X Plus, and Elite 8 series. You can also reuse your coaxial rear camera cable from the DR750X‑2CH with the Elite 8, as they're compatible across these models

Older power cables from S-series models like the DR750S won't work
