BlackVue CM100G LTE Module: North America

Give a supported BlackVue dash cam its own 4G data connection for remote viewing, notifications and other available Cloud features. The CM100G LTE connects to the camera’s dedicated USB port and draws power from the camera.

The included 3m cable, approximately 10ft, gives you room to position the module near a top corner of the windshield. This is the North American version. The FAQs explain camera compatibility and mobile-network requirements.

Choose the exact camera connection

BlackVue lists the ELITE family, DR970X and DR970X Plus, DR970X Box Plus, DR770X and DR770X Box/Box Pro, DR900X/Plus and DR750X/Plus families for this module. Check the exact camera generation, available USB connection and current firmware before installation.

Current options include the DR770X-2CH Series II and ELITE 8 2-channel. Cameras with built-in LTE already have their own cellular connection; this is not a general-purpose USB modem for any dash cam.

CM100G LTE also contains a GNSS receiver. How the camera uses external location data depends on its exact model and firmware. Do not buy the module solely as a GPS upgrade without checking that pairing.

Install the SIM and route the included 3m cable

With the camera powered off, remove the screw securing the SIM cover and use the eject tool to open the tray. Fit an activated nano-SIM in the correct orientation, return the tray and secure the cover. The module needs a plan that supports 4G LTE data.

Clean and dry the mounting area, then attach the module near a top corner of the windshield without blocking the driver’s view. Connect the supplied lead to the supported camera USB port and secure the route with the cable clips. Leave space around airbag paths and moving trim.

Open the BlackVue app and complete the camera’s Cloud connection settings. Enter the carrier’s APN if automatic setup does not work, then confirm a remote connection before finishing the installation.

Cloud access depends on coverage and power

The module supplies a cellular connection; the camera and its service plan determine which remote features are available. Remote Live View, event notifications and uploads need network coverage, remaining data and a powered camera. Cellular service and Cloud subscription allowances are separate.

For parked use, the camera needs an appropriate hardwire installation or a compatible battery such as the BlackVue B-130A. When the camera shuts down, the module also loses power. LTE use adds to the system’s energy demand.

On cameras that support Mobile Hotspot, the camera can share the connection with up to five Wi-Fi devices. Those devices use the same mobile data allowance. One module connects by cable to one camera; it is not a multi-camera USB hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 3m cable included?

Yes. Current stock includes the 3m cable, approximately 10ft. You do not need to buy that lead separately.

Which BlackVue cameras work with it?

Supported families include ELITE, DR970X/Plus and DR970X Box Plus, DR770X and its Box/Box Pro models, DR900X/Plus and DR750X/Plus. Check the exact generation, USB port and firmware. A USB port on another camera does not establish compatibility.

Do I need it if my camera has built-in LTE?

Normally no. A built-in LTE camera has its own SIM connection. Check your complete model name so you do not buy a second cellular module unnecessarily.

Which carrier should I use?

For the US, BlackVue recommends a direct T-Mobile data plan. Confirm the module IMEI, plan and APN with the carrier before buying service. Do not assume an MVNO works because it shares a larger carrier’s network.

Can I use a SIM advertised for 5G?

The module itself uses 4G LTE. BlackVue says a hybrid 4G/5G SIM may work if its service supports fallback to 4G; a 5G-only SIM is unsupported. Confirm the exact data plan and module compatibility with the carrier.

Does the package include internet or a SIM?

No. Buy and activate a compatible nano-SIM data plan separately. A BlackVue account and any required Cloud service plan are also separate from cellular service.

Why does the app ask for an APN?

An APN identifies the carrier’s mobile data connection. Use the settings supplied for your exact SIM and plan, then confirm the camera shows a Cloud connection. If connection fails, check activation, SIM seating, coverage and the APN.

Will it stay online with the ignition off?

Only while the compatible camera remains powered and has cellular coverage and data. Use a suitable parking-power setup. When a voltage cutoff, battery depletion or camera setting shuts the camera down, the module also stops.

Can it provide Wi-Fi for passengers?

Yes, through a BlackVue camera that supports Mobile Hotspot, with an active data connection. Up to five Wi-Fi devices can share the camera’s network. Their traffic uses the SIM plan’s data and can compete with camera uploads.

Is 480Mbps the mobile internet speed?

No. The 480Mbps figure refers to the USB 2.0 interface. The module’s LTE Category 4 specification is up to 150Mbps down and 50Mbps up under theoretical conditions; coverage, network load and the plan determine actual speeds.

Does CM100G LTE add GPS to every compatible camera?

The G model includes a GNSS receiver, but external GPS use is camera- and firmware-dependent. Confirm the exact camera if external GPS is your reason for buying it.

Does it work worldwide?

This is the North American B2/B4/B12 version. Other regions use different module versions and bands. Roaming permission alone does not make this module compatible with every foreign network.

What warranty coverage applies?

This accessory has a two-year BlackVue manufacturer warranty, which BlackboxMyCar honors. Our default retailer coverage is six months unless otherwise stated; it does not shorten this product’s two-year manufacturer coverage.

Good cam, bad app

Glad I got this camera setup. Great quality hardware and included accessories. The app is frustrating to use. Would gladly swap to another app that can utilize the hardware.

Amazing device that lets you keep an eye on your car anywhere in the world!

I’m from Canada and I love this product. It makes the DR900X even better. Works with a Rogers SIM card and I can keep an eye on my car from anywhere in the world. I love the updates/ notifications as well. My next purchase will be a battery to extend the life while in parking mode!

Instant connection for my dash cam!

If you hate how finicky your dash cams wanting to connect to a Wi-Fi hot spot connection is, then get this LTE module. You’ll be happy you did. Oh and don’t waste your time trying to get a SIM card to work with AT&T. I spent 2 hours on the phone with a very nice CS and her manager and they just just couldn’t make it happen. Not sure why I thought my experience would be different, but I guess I thought I’d be one of the success stories I read from a few commenters online. Sadly mine was with the majority of horror stories. Lol. Anyways, go with a T-mobile sim and it’ll work flawlessly. You can even get one online if there isn’t a nearby T-mobile store.

Setup a breeze

Once I inserted the T-Mobile SIM and went through the easy setup I was up and running. I was surprised it was that easy to configure.

Works great, even tucked away

It took a bit of back and forth with my carrier to get this to work, but once my plan was sorted out, I was easily able to activate the sim card through my DR900X. I decided I'd try to use it by just leaving the unit tucked up under the headliner. I expected it to have poor signal since it was so close to the car's metal roof, but so far it seems to be working just fine, and I don't need to have something extra mounted to my windshield.

If there was one negative, it would be the high price. A device that adds LTE functionality to a dashcam should definitely not cost more than $50 or so, but what can you expect when the lockout option for the same camera is $50 itself. Blackvue charges a premium for their products, but they do work really well, so to me it's worth it.

Quick and Easy Access to the Cloud

Great accessory for my DR900X-2CH. Very easy to install and connect to the cloud. Great connection quality, too... I'm 3 levels down in a parking garage and I can still get a good quality signal. Added perks such as remote camera viewing and GPS tracking make this a worthwhile investment. Black Box My Car also had it out the door and delivered to me very quickly. I'm very pleased I purchased this to go along with my dashcam.

Simple Cellular

This module does what it’s supposed to do. Easy set up. Simple to use. Set it and forget it. Boom.

Hi Benjamin, boom! Thanks for leaving a review and for shopping with us! If you have any question...

M
Mark E.

It states only supports one camera. Does that mean my rear camera's videos will not be uploaded to cloud? Or does it work because the rear is plugged into the front camera?

Juan W.

Hey Mark,

When the Cloud refers to "one camera" it means one system. This means it supports one main camera and any additional cameras connected to the main front-facing camera. Your rear camera will be supported as well.

Is it possible to buy the LTE module that works with the 590x?

Juan W.

Hey there, there is no LTE Module for the DR590X at this time, I'm afraid!

L
Luis R.

Does this device create a wireless network that other devices can connect to?

Juan W.

Yes, the CM100 LTE acts as a hotspot for one more additional device apart from the dash cam.

L
Luis R.

Is there a longer cable we can use? I’d like to tuck away the CM100LTE in the glove compartment or some other place where it can be out of sight.

Juan W.

Hello, there is not, unfortunately.

P
Phillip L.

Does the LTE module send data to the cloud 24/7? Seems that would quickly cost as much as the module

Juan W.

The Cloud function does not allow that, no. Only for impact files (or in accordance with your settings) or whenever you check in on the dash cam.
