2K recording with the right HDR setting

The 5MP Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor has a 1/2.8-inch format, paired with an F1.6 lens and a 140° view. Select 2560 × 1440 at 60FPS with HDR off, or 30FPS with HDR enabled. HDR combines exposures to balance bright highlights and darker areas; it does not operate at 60FPS.

This is a single front camera. The hardware cannot accept a rear camera. For front and rear coverage, compare a supported VIOFO A229 Plus 2CH system instead.

Parking recording with a separate power kit

Auto Event Detection saves 15 seconds before and 30 seconds after detection. Time-lapse records fewer frames without sound, while low-bitrate recording keeps continuous video with audio in smaller files. Pick the mode according to the footage you need and the power available.

The separately sold VIOFO HK4 hardwire kit supplies constant power and an ignition signal for automatic parking mode. Set an appropriate voltage cutoff and parking duration, then test a parked recording. A car charger connected to an ignition-switched socket loses power when the vehicle is off. The supercapacitor helps save the last file when power stops. It cannot run the camera by itself, and parking runtime is not unlimited.

Set up the lens for changing light

The STARVIS 2 sensor and HDR setting help the camera handle changing light. Keep the lens and windshield clean, fit the camera within the wiper-cleared area and check saved recordings in both daylight and darkness. Motion, distance, glare and glass condition still affect readable detail.

The optional CPL-100 filter can reduce dashboard reflections. Adjust it using the camera preview and check the result at night as well. If you add Aqua Shield, follow its placement instructions and avoid putting an edge or obstruction in the lens view.

Voice commands and recording status

Supported voice commands let you control recording, capture a photo and switch Wi-Fi. Voice notifications report status changes and memory-card errors. Select the supported language in the camera and practise the commands while parked.

The optional BTR200 Bluetooth remote provides clip locking and configured shortcuts. Bluetooth supports the remote; the phone app uses Wi-Fi. Neither connection supplies LTE, cloud storage or remote parking notifications.

Nearby phone access and recorded GPS data

Connect a nearby phone over 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi to use the VIOFO app for settings, playback and downloads. Transfer speed depends on the phone, interference and file size. This is a local connection, not remote viewing over the internet.

The included GPS mount records location, speed and time when it receives a satellite signal. Download the clip first to view its GPS map in the app or compatible computer software. It does not transmit your vehicle’s live location to you.

Storage and controls in a compact camera

The 1.5-inch screen and physical buttons provide setup and playback without a phone. Use a compatible high-endurance microSD card up to 512GB. Loop recording replaces older ordinary files, so back up important clips promptly and check recordings periodically.
