What is the Thinkware PC/Mac Viewer?
How to review your recorded footage from your Thinkware dash cam
Thinkware PC/Mac Viewer
For those of you who have a Thinkware dash cam installed in their cars, there are a few ways to watch your recorded footage.
Since Thinkware dash cams like the F200 Pro, Q1000, U1000, and the all-new U3000 are built without a screen, you will have to use the dedicated Thinkware app for smartphones, or the Thinkware PC/Mac Viewer to review the recorded files.
If you want to instantly access your videos on the go, the Thinkware mobile app is the easiest option. However, if you want to view your clips on a bigger screen, we recommend downloading the Thinkware PC/Mac Viewer.
How to Use the Thinkware PC/Mac Viewer
To use the Thinkware PC/Mac Viewer, insert the memory card from your Thinkware dash cam into an SD card adapter. The majority of SD cards will come with an adapter. Then, connect the adapter with the SD card to your computer and launch the Thinkware PC/Mac Viewer program you downloaded.
Video Playback
On the right side of the screen, you should see a section labelled Playlist, along with a list of front and rear footage. If you press the Continuous button next to Playlist, you can specify what type of footage you would like to find. Double-clicking any footage will begin playing it. During playback, you can also see the G-sensor data and speed data along the bottom.
On the right side of the Thinkware PC/Mac Viewer, you can either see the alternate camera angle if you have a two-channel setup, or choose the map overlay to show the location of your vehicle at the time of the video. You can also play the video in full screen and zoom in using the shortcuts on the screen.
Right below the front camera feed are controls to auto-play the following videos, adjust brightness, and zoom in on the video itself—especially useful for picking out details such as licence plates.
Need a particular video clip? Click the download shortcut to save a copy to your computer's hard drive.
Configure Settings
If you want to change your dash camera settings, click the Settings tab at the top left, then select Dash Cam Settings. This opens a separate window similar to the smartphone app. If you change any settings, make sure to select Save so they will be applied when you insert the card back into the camera.
Under the Settings tab, you can also change the language and speed unit of the viewer itself. The Dash Cam Info tab will tell you which firmware version and safety-camera database are installed on your Thinkware dash cam.
That completes the Thinkware PC/Mac Viewer walkthrough. The original download instructions and screenshots are preserved below.
