BlackVue DR970X-2CH Box Plus 4K UHD Cloud Dash Cam

Initially, the kit was great. It has two small cameras, long cables and a separate security module. The camera does not drain the car battery. However, video quality is mediocre. It is grainy and difficult to make out details. The battery drains quickly so is useless parked more than over night. This is with an add-on battery (which is a great feature) but I figure there needs to be about 6-8 backup batteries to last 3 days. Whenever there is a FW upgrade the alarm beeps nonstop. It is still beeping now as I am looking for a different camera. Customer service was poor since they barely understood my problem and could not respond effectively. I even got Blackboxmycar's battery charger, which is great, and an extra backup battery, which only lasted a few hours. Otherwise, there is no way to charge these drained batteries from the wall outlet. For the money spent it was very disappointing.

I like the small size and design. The seperated central module is a good idea for security measures. I have had this installed for about five months and don't think it is worth the money. I wanted a camera setup that was effective while parked and so I paired this will the PowerCell8. The problem is this camera system is very power hungry. I don't typically drive my vehicle much on the weekends and this will completely drain the powercell in about 15 hours even just on motion detection and not continuous recording. Wouldn't be a huge gripe except that constantly killing the powercell is likely to wreck havok on the longevity of the battery. Also, i recently witnessed someone running a red light and also hitting a pedestrian. I thought great I have them on footage! Shortly after I caught up with the car as it was caught at the next redlight and passed by slowly in the adjacent lane to try and catch the license plate. It was easy to access and find the clips via the app which is nice but the major letdown was even in close proximity I cannot make out the license plate number in the video. Although this boasts great forward camera specs its really a let down.

Great cam, the "brain" box is a bit big for what it is, making it harder to find a good spot for it, but it works great!

Have had this cam through sun and rain, and it's never missed a beat. The footage quality stays top-notch regardless of conditions.

Easy install on a 2024 Chevy Colorado ZR2 . Used the obd2 power connection and required no tapping of fuse box . WiFi connection is easy and provides great videos.

The 4K resolution on this dash cam is incredible. I can see every single detail and it makes reviewing footage so much easier. Installed well in my car and feels sold.

I do not have, nor will be getting a Google account due to the info they demand. This is creating a challenge to pair the SOS button to the BlackVue DR970X-2CH Box Plus. Michael was most helpful in giving me an option to pair the button without the use of a phone, but the Google account is still an obstacle. Initial trials also seem to yield disappointingly grainy image. Planned to buy at lease 3 more units, but at this point still evaluating. Service from Blackbox my car has been excellent, and will buy from them if I proceed.

While the video quality is spot-on, I'd say the audio recording is pretty average. It still does a job, and it’s sufficient for most needs.
