Changing Passwords

If you are planning on changing the battery password, you will need to enter the default password '1234' when prompted for the old password.

Note: There is no password retrieval or reset function. Password reset is a function that can only be performed by technicians at the manufacturer for the dash camera battery pack. The Reset to enable parking mode recording on your dash cam. The function within the Battery Manager App is for resetting the default battery settings (ie. power pack configurations). the Dual Charger setting) only and will not You can reset the password back to the default "1234" for your external battery pack if needed.

Because of this, we strongly recommend that you don't change the password unless you absolutely needed to, and if you do change it, make sure to keep a record of the new password. Once you have changed the password, you will be asked to re-enter it every time you access the power pack settings. Settings in the Battery Manager App allow you to customize your power pack for optimal performance, enhancing your dash cam’s capabilities. menu within the Battery Manager App.

while it’s an older unit, it seems solid and reliable and safe and so far has been performing great

The wiring harness options available are helpful. I chose the Direct harness. Some of the cabling could be reinforced a little bit more but overall it’s functioning great and it fits perfectly in the center console of the car tucked out of the way. The Bluetooth app seems stated and delayed but functional honestly rarely check it as it seems to work well overall happy with the purchase and Pickup here locally in Richmond

A powerhouse with great support, easy install & ability to expand

I reached out to BBMC to find out what I would need based on what system I had and wanted to do with it. The staff was quick to reply with a suggestion and include links on a lot of information from specs, install, parts, what to expect etc. It got to the point and was informative enough to make a decision. I received everything as promised and it was a very simple self install. From day 1 for about 3 weeks I ran the system at max draw to test out the limits and the Powercell8 did not disappoint. I was able to run a 3 ch Viofo A329S system with a hk6 hardwire kit for over 24 hours straight and still have power left. I currently run it 12 hours continuous which only draws it down about 45-55%, drive for 30 to 40 minutes which easily charges back to 100%. If I leave it parked over the weekend with nothing drawing on the battery it tends to drop 1-3% a day as the bluetooth used to connect to their app doesn't turn off but cycles. The app isn't much but you can check the %, turn on/off an audible beep to let you know without looking its charging and adjust the charging amps up to 9. The Powercell8 is a powerhouse and can be daisy chained into another battery pack which also shows up in the app. Another great feature is with this you don't have to worry about coming out to a no start vehicle and it has a usb port so you can run led lights, charge your phone etc. Overall I am very satisfied with its performance and the staff at BBMC. I highly recommend it if you want solid parking mode.

My 5 Month Review

I’ve used the Powercell 8 for 5 months and I regret my purchase. When I park my car in the garage the battery discharges completely in less than 3 days even with my Dash Cam unplugged from the Powercell. I contacted support at Black Box My Car and was told this is normal because the Powercell uses Blue Tooth to connect to the app and Blue Tooth needs power to function. Five years ago I purchased a Powercell for my prior DashCam and the Powercell would loose approx 5% per day with the DashCam turned off. I will never buy another PowerCell. In addition the app will only connect with the Powercell when I am next to my car with the door open. BTW - Black Box My Car has bEEn a big help with my issue. They even contacted the manufacturer to see if there was something I could do to make the PowerCell last longer.
