4K Front Recording at Your Chosen Frame Rate

The front camera uses the Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 8MP sensor and a 140° lens. Choose 4K 60FPS for more frames per second, or 4K 30FPS with HDR for difficult light contrast. The built-in 2.4-inch display helps you aim the camera and check settings. For coverage behind the vehicle, compare the A329S 2CH.

IMX678 Sensor and HDR

The front camera uses the 8MP Sony STARVIS 2 IMX678 sensor. HDR helps balance bright and dark areas. For front HDR, select 4K 30FPS; 4K 60FPS uses HDR off. Readable plates depend on light, distance, speed, glare and installation angle. Check sample recordings in daylight and after dark, and keep the lens and windshield clean.

Parking modes for different stops

For automatic parking mode, add a compatible VIOFO HK4 or HK6 hardwire kit. HK6 also supports the camera’s vehicle-voltage display and battery controls. Connect through the GPS mount’s power port. Both kits are sold separately.

Buffered Auto Event Detection: captures 15 seconds before and 30 seconds after detected activity.
Time-lapse: continuous low-frame-rate video without audio; 1FPS supports Night Vision.
Low bitrate: continuous video and audio in smaller files.
Low-power impact: waits in standby, then wakes in about two seconds to record for one minute; further activity can extend recording to three minutes.
Hybrid: begins in event, 1FPS time-lapse or low-bitrate mode, then switches to impact standby at a configured time or voltage threshold. Voltage-based switching requires HK6.

Hybrid and low-power impact modes record to microSD only. Standby has no pre-impact buffer. Set at least a timer or supported voltage threshold to enable hybrid mode, and test your chosen mode. The PowerCell 8 battery pack is an alternative power source with the correct VIOFO wiring; available modes depend on that connection.

Copy recordings over USB

The camera’s USB data connection lets you copy recordings to a compatible computer or phone. The supplied Type-C data cable is for file access, not camera charging. Phone support and transfer speed vary, so check the connection before relying on it during a trip.

For power, use the supplied matched charger and power cable through the GPS mount. External recording requires the dedicated VIOFO SSD cable. These roles are different even though the connectors look similar. Keep an untouched copy of an important recording before trimming or sharing it.

Nearby phone access and GPS playback

Connect a nearby phone over 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi to use the VIOFO app for preview, settings, playback and downloads. Wi-Fi 6 performance depends on the phone, interference and file size. Stop safely before using the app.

The GPS mount records location, speed and time when a satellite signal is available. Review the saved route with compatible playback software. These local functions do not provide LTE connectivity, remote cloud viewing or live vehicle tracking.

Voice commands and status alerts

Spoken commands can lock the current video, take a photo, start recording and switch audio, Wi-Fi or the screen. The current manual lists English, Chinese, Russian and Japanese voice commands; other interface languages use English commands. Test recognition while parked.

Voice notifications report recording or memory-card problems, with a critical-alerts-only option. The optional BTR200 Bluetooth remote gives you a reachable physical clip-lock button and configurable controls. Neither voice control nor Bluetooth supplies an internet connection.

Matched vehicle charger and power cable

The included D6000 charger powers the camera through a vehicle accessory socket and provides a second USB-C port for a compatible device. Use its matched power cable in the charger’s dash-cam port and connect the other end to the GPS-mount power input.

A socket that switches off with the ignition stops supplying the camera. Use a supported hardwire or battery installation for parking recording. Do not substitute the supplied data cable for the charger’s power cable.

Choose microSD or portable SSD storage

Use a compatible high-endurance microSD card up to 512GB, or a compatible portable SSD up to 4TB with the dedicated VIOFO SSD cable. Both storage devices and the SSD cable are separate purchases. Choose one recording destination; the camera does not mirror footage to both at the same time.

Format an SSD to exFAT and secure it away from heat. VIOFO recommends 0°C to 60°C for SSD use. Hybrid and low-power impact parking files must go to microSD; the other parking modes can use the selected supported destination. Copy important originals promptly because loop recording still replaces older ordinary files.

Which cameras are included in this A329S package?

VIOFO A329S 1CH records front only. No rear or cabin camera is included. Compare A329S 2CH if you need rear coverage.

Can I record 4K 60FPS with HDR?

Front 4K 60FPS requires HDR off. Use 4K 30FPS for front HDR. This package contains only the front camera.

How does this compare with the other A329S configurations?

The A329S 3CH adds both rear and infrared cabin coverage, with all three channels recording at 30FPS. Choose by the views you need, rather than the largest channel count.

Which hardwire kit should I choose?

Use VIOFO HK4 or HK6 through the GPS-mount power port. Choose HK6 for vehicle-voltage display and voltage-based hybrid switching. Hybrid mode must have a time or supported voltage threshold set. Both kits are sold separately, and fuse taps must match your vehicle.

How is hybrid parking different from buffered event recording?

Buffered event mode keeps the camera active and saves 15 seconds before and 30 seconds after detected activity. Hybrid mode starts with event, 1FPS time-lapse or low-bitrate recording, then changes to low-power impact standby at the configured threshold. Once in standby, there is no pre-impact buffer.

How quickly does low-power impact recording start?

The manual specifies about a two-second wake-up after a detected impact, followed by one minute of recording. Further movement or impact can extend that to three minutes. This mode requires compatible VIOFO hardwire power and a microSD card. It does not record continuously while waiting.

Can parking recording use an SSD?

Hybrid and low-power impact parking modes save only to microSD. Other supported parking modes can use the selected microSD or external SSD destination. Install a compatible card even if you use an SSD for driving and want hybrid or low-power impact recording.

Are the memory card, SSD and hardwire kit included?

No. All three are separate purchases. The camera supports a compatible high-endurance microSD card up to 512GB and a compatible SSD up to 4TB with the dedicated VIOFO SSD cable. The front CPL-200 and listed charger are included; the Bluetooth remote and additional filters are optional.

Can I record to microSD and SSD at the same time?

No. Choose one destination for recording. A separate parking destination can be set where the mode supports it. The menu also offers a microSD-to-SSD backup function; making a backup is different from recording simultaneously to both.

Can I view the camera remotely or receive live parking alerts?

No. Wi-Fi works with a nearby phone, and GPS saves location information with footage. Parking-impact notifications occur at the next startup. The manual excludes impacts within three minutes of entering or leaving parking mode from these protected event recordings. The camera does not provide a cellular connection, remote cloud monitoring or live vehicle tracking.

What does parking geofencing do?

It lets you select up to three areas where the camera shuts down instead of entering parking recording, such as a private garage. Outside those areas, or with a weak or lost GPS signal, the camera enters parking mode. Test the zones and settings in your actual installation.

Which CPL filters fit this configuration?

The included front filter is CPL-200. Use the same model if replacing it. Select the exact model from our VIOFO CPL filters page; a CPL for the original A329 rear camera is a different fit.

Which voice languages are supported?

The current manual lists English, Chinese, Russian and Japanese commands. Other interface languages use English voice commands. Commands include locking video, taking a photo, starting recording and switching common controls. Voice notifications report status separately.

What does privacy mode keep?

It retains only the latest 2 ordinary files for this 1-channel configuration, using one-minute loop files. Leave it off if you want the normal recording history. Export important clips before changing settings or formatting storage.

How do I update my A329S?

Use the official A329S firmware page and follow the instructions for the exact installed model. Back up recordings and settings first, use stable power and update through microSD rather than an SSD. Current releases reset settings and advise against downgrading. Recheck channels, audio, HDR, storage and parking after the update.

The camera is great

The camera is great. I would prefer a different mounting option.
I have not been able to make the hybrid parking mode work. it keeps asking me to setup the battery protection. I have set it up like fifteen different times, still no luck.

Amazing dash cam

Just installed this in my car. Easy to install and hid the wires. The best part is that you can just plug the wire in to the usb c jack and not use the cigarette light plug. Great picture image and small unit that doesn’t stand out

Really nice dashcam

Really nice dashcam. Lots of features and simple to use. The instructions are easy to follow and installation was a breeze. Video quality is excellent. My biggest complaint is that it uses sticky tape instead of a solid or suction mount. In hot climates this may not stick.

The A329T stomps on my older A229 Pro

I love the A329T. It's video recording quality is better than my older A229 Pro and it doesn't get as hot. I'm amazed how well the front telephoto zoom cam picks up license plates.Viofo hit a home run with the new A329T series

I'm not as sold on this system as all the reviews mention.

I’ve come to the Viofo A329S after using numerous BlackVue cameras over the past 12 years. While the A329S performs well under the hood, the build quality feels a bit "cheap" to the touch when compared to the premium, robust feel I’ve grown accustomed to with BlackVue.
I have had the system installed for three days, and I’ve encountered a few frustrating hurdles:
GPS Connectivity Issues: Despite the GPS settings being active and the camera properly docked to the GPS window mount, playback on the Viofo PC software fails to show movement. My speed remains at zero and the location stays static at the coordinates where I first installed the system.
Software Limitations: Coming from the BlackVue ecosystem, I am used to a seamless continuous playback of all files. The Viofo software, by contrast, seems to only allow a limited number of files to load at once, making it difficult to review long trips.
App Intuition: Today, while using the Android app, I found the file organization confusing. While I could locate footage from earlier in the day, I was completely unable to find the clips from the minutes immediately preceding my connection to the camera.
Since I am new to the Viofo system, some of these issues may be due to my own learning curve. I’m hoping that with more time, the interface will become more intuitive and these technical glitches will be resolved.

VIOFO positions the A329S in the 'affordable premium' segment, so some compromises in exterior materials are made to keep pricing relatively low, as the price to performance ratio is the major focus.

Regarding the GPS behavior, this is most often resolved with a firmware update. You can update directly through the newer VIOFO Dashcam app, which has replaced the older VIOFO app and offers a more streamlined experience. If you are still using the older app, we recommend switching to the updated one. Firmware can also be installed manually via the SD card if needed.

As for file browsing and playback, the new app significantly improves navigation and overall usability compared to previous versions. There can definitely be a learning curve when switching ecosystems, but many users find the experience more intuitive on the new app.

Excellent video quality

Replaced a BlackVue DR900S-2CH. Easy enough to install, I could reuse the rear camera cable from the BlackVue.

I did end up disabling HDR to use 60fps on the main camera. Didn't see much difference with HDR during the day.

Can't think of a single complaint

I have installed a 129, 2x 229s and now a A329. They all basically install exactly the same but you can see that things have ivastly mproved over time. Even the feature set is now light years ahead, not to mention the video quality. I particularly like the new parking modes to extend recording time, as it is getting smarter and smarter. I can't wait for an A429 4 channel with 2 front fender sideview cameras. I am a bit puzzeled as to why no one does this, yet, except Tesla, from the factory. Stick with Viofo as I have experience with Blackview and some brand Xs and just don't go there.

Amazing video quality. Easy enough set up. One of the problems I had with the old Garmin dashcam was connecting to the app. It was a constant challenge. No such issues at all with the Viofo app. Was a quick and efficent stable connection. A shout out to Blackbox for their delivery updates. Came right on schedule.
