Made the hardwiring process easier. The tool made it easier to determine where to plug in the wires. I'm glad it bought so didn't have to go to the store to buy fuse taps and a bunch of extra fuses that I won't need. Definitely worth the money. Worked well with my Hyundai Tucson.

2021 F-150 powerboost owner here. The fuses don't fit without YOU having to modify them. Have to file them down. Micro2. The tools were great though with the whole kit. Going to test these on my 2020 stinger to see if they are a direct fit.

The Essential BlackboxMyCar Install Package packs heavy-duty 20A (Yellow) fuses. Using a 20A fuse means the circuit will allow massive electrical currents to pass through before blowing. If a wire pinches or short-circuits, a 20A fuse will not blow fast enough, which can melt the thin Viofo power cable or damage the camera. After I spent so much money on this setup, now I have to go to the dealership to buy 5A fuses.

If you aren’t sure exactly what you need for an install this is definitely a good thing to purchase. The only issue I had was that the fuses included are all 20 amp which is way too high for installing a dashcam. Still a decent purchase.

Wasn’t able to get any of the fuses to fit into their respective adapters. I’m not sure if I got a bad batch or if I did something incorrectly but I spent way too much time trying to simply insert the fuses into their correct adapters and they just refused to go in.
I ordered a different set from elsewhere to compare how everything fit.

The wedge tool for lifting seals and inserting cable was the best part. The tester was useful and the others parts were just incase I needed more. But I would buy these parts again with any install

This kit, despite being close to $30 on sale, did not work in the slightest. First, the taps sockets are too wide to fit into my fusebox. I don't exactly drive an out of the ordinary car - I drive a Crosstrek, one of the most common cars in the country. I've read other reviews of people having to file down the socket to fit. But my question is, how in the world are these the wrong size for a standard sized fuse slot? The point of buying a $30 installation kit is that everything should be ready to work out of the box. I don't mind having to crimp or solder wires together, but these are genuinely the wrong parts. Not to mention, the crimping sockets are way too big for the tiny wires included in the hardwire kit. There's no way you'll get a good, secure connection with this type of fit.

Second, the installation guides listed on the website explicitly state that when wiring a camera into your fusebox, you should use a fuse of equal or lesser value than the fuse you are tapping into. So in theory, if I'm following the advice of the guide and tapping into things like my mirrors and cigarette lighter, all of which are between 7.5 and 15 Amps, how does it make sense that the only fuses included in the kit are all 20 Amps? Not only does this contradict with the posted guides and instructions, but a 20 Amp fuse does nothing to protect a camera that draws less than 2 Amps.

This kit is a waste of money. Save yourself the headache and buy the fuses and taps from an autoparts store. You'll thank yourself later. I'm meanwhile going to hope that Black Box gives me a refund for this kit.

It's my first time installing my own dash cam. I was a bit scared because I had to take off the front panel in my car to tap those fuses, but after following the guide from the website by using all the tools come with this kit. The whole process was super smooth.

I got the essential install package and it really facilitated the installation of my dashcam. Everything I needed was in the package.

Purchased the Viofo a139 with a Powercell 8 for parking mode. The kit came with everything for
the install. Highly recommended.

Great starter kit. The tester works as expected and lots of sizes to work with. Only issue is that the micro2 fuse tap is a little too big for a gen 14 F150. A few minutes shaving the casing with an utility knife did the trick.

This kit makes finding your fuse box the hardest thing about hardwiring your dashcam. It's got everything you could ever need to get the job done, including a circuit tester that will be useful even after your done with this project. It's a great value for what you get annd very easy to recommend.
