I watch a lot of videos on the site and I settled on the DR900 x Plus 2ch. I thought it was going to be hard to install and easy to configure but it was very easy to install and just a little bit difficult to configure.
I have to give black box my car high marks for customer service. If you write to them they write back to you quickly and if you call them you can get through to someone. They try very hard to help you and send you links to videos which are designed to help you.
Liza was very nice to me and helped me a lot. (Thanks Liza)
If all customer services this good the world would be a better place
My car has a 48 V battery that's been giving me problems and I was nervous about tapping into the fuse box. It's a 2021 Mercedes station wagon. I ran the wires up under the top of the windshield, over the a pillar and then under the door rubber to the B pillar and then above the back door rubber and down the side into my station wagon back. There is a cigarette lighter adapter there.
I bought an eight cell battery from the same company and I plugged the cigarette lighter into the eight cell battery and then the eight cell battery into the cigarette lighter in the back of my car.
It works great under parking mode but if I'm going to leave the car a long time I have to remember to turn off the battery so it doesn't go dead. I'm starting to wonder if it matters if it goes dead and I think I'm going to experiment with letting it go dad to see what happens.
It would be much easier if the camera had an on-off switch but that's not for me to say.
The new way of connecting your phone to the camera is really easy. It's easy to walk through you can follow the video that BPM C sends you.
There's all sorts of ways to configure the camera. I had to play with a while but I figured it out and it really helped to watch all of the videos.
The cloud is a whole different issue. Part of the reason I bought the BlackVue is because of the cloud feature that I still have available to get the cloud feature to work correctly. I admit that I'm using a wireless hotspot and the black view company sells their own wireless hotspot but I already have one.
I think I finally figured out (with the help of Andrew and BlackVue) that if you turn off the car and turn off the battery and then turn on the wireless hotspot and then turn the car on and the battery on that it will connect to the cloud. However if you turn on the car and then turn on the wireless hotspot it doesn't seem to work or at least it hasn't for me.
The cloud thing has been very frustrating for me.
I bought the camera in case of an accident so I imagine if I have an accident I will pull the SD card out and have video to show the police or insurance company and even though I can't get the cloud to work I'm confident that the images will be there.
A colleague of mine saw that I had this camera and said to me I wish I'd had this camera because somebody ran into me the other day and drove off and I have no idea who they are.
