What is Hardwire Installation? Do I need a Hardwiring Kit?

What is Hardware Installation?

Many dashcams come standard with a parking mode. By hardwiring the dashcam to your vehicle, the dashcam would be able to act as a CCTV when the vehicle ignition is turned off. Equipped with motion-detection technologies, the parking mode conserves energy by only turning on when motion is detected in the vicinity.

A prime example of how parking mode can be useful is shown in the video below. In the video, a hit and "stay" occurred in which the person hit our car and simply walked off. Thanks to the parking mode feature, we were able to resolve our problem fairly quickly.

Why should I hardwire my dash cam?

For a stress-free installation experience with your dash cam, we strongly recommend hardwiring your dash cam with a hardwiring kit! We recommend using a hardwiring kit such as the Power Kit / Power Magic Pro.

With the Power Kit / Power Magic Pro, the kit will stop your car battery from descending below a certain battery level, preventing potential damage to your vehicle. When your hardwiring kit senses the battery dropping below the 'minimum' level, it will automatically cut off your power - and as a result, you will never have to worry about your vehicle not starting up, and your dash cam will still be able to record while your ignition is off.
