This U1000 is my second Thinkware dashcam. My first one is the F770. What I like about the U1000 is that it starts recording in about 10 to 12 seconds after starting my vehicle. The F770 starting recording about 45 seconds after starting my vehicle.
What I don't like about the U1000 is that it's vertical height is a little taller (longer), while the height of my F770 was shorter. Being taller, the U1000 lens is further down on my windshield. My F770 was able to be mounted further up on my windshield since the height of the device was shorter.
Also, with the U1000, my dashboard is partially being reflected in my video. At this moment, I don't know if the reflection occurs during nigh time recording.
The U1000 user manual is not very useful at all. It gives a lot of details about how to activate and deactivate a setting, but it barely gives information about what a feature is. For example, it doesn't give details about the "WiFi" indicator being the color green or being the color blue. The manual didn't explain that formatting the memory card can be accomplished by holding down the "REC" button for a few moments, so I accidentally formatted my memory card when I didn't want to.
I also don't like the fact that the U1000 device is automatically searching for a WiFi signal for about 10 minutes every time I start my vehicle when I don't want it to search at all. There's no way for me to turn off the WiFi searching.
Connecting the U1000 to my iPhone's WiFi is simple, but connecting to my iPhone's hotspot is troublesome.
Overall, the U1000 dashcam is okay, it starts recording faster and the front camera is 4K, but if I hadn't removed my F770 dashcam, I would most likely return the U1000 for a refund.
