What is Parking Mode?
Parking mode is offered on most of the dash cams available at BlackboxMyCar. While it is important to protect your vehicle while driving, it is just as important to have your vehicle protected while it is parked. When the dash cam is in parking mode, footage will only be saved when there is an impact and/or motion. Parking mode can be enabled with a hardwiring kit or a battery pack.

What is a Hardwire Kit?
A hardwiring kit enables parking mode. It allows your dash cam to remain powered on even when the vehicle's ignition is turned off. Installation is a breeze as you will only need to find an accessory fuse, constant fuse, and a grounding point.
What is a Battery Pack?
Most customers purchase the battery pack to avoid using the vehicle’s battery to power their dash cam. The battery pack is charged by either being hardwired into an accessory fuse or by being plugged into one of the vehicle's 12-volt cigarette sockets. We recommend the hardwiring the battery pack as it charges the battery pack quicker.

How much footage will my memory card store?
On average, a 2-channel dash cam writes 16GB/hour and a 1-channel dash cam writes about 8GB/hour.

Do I need a Rear Camera?
Accidents or events don't always happen at the front of the vehicle! Having a rear camera provides coverage for any events or accidents that may happen at the rear of the vehicle.

Do I need a IR Rear Camera?
An IR camera is designed to record the interior of the vehicle in low light conditions. This option is very popular among rideshare drivers.

I purchased the frame for the rear of my car. In October, an aggressive truck driver kept tail gating me on the Tappan Zee Bridge; Friday, October 26, 2018 at about 1:57pm.. The driver would speed up and almost hit my bumper, sound his horn repeatedly and then back off a bit. I finally managed to move safely out of the lane and away from this dangerous and unstable truck driver. Unfortunately, I failed to push the event button to record the driver. If I had secured a video, I would have sent it to the NYS Police. Still, I was truly in fear of my life. Ironically, I was in the second lane from the left which, is for cars only. The truck driver continued to drive in that lane, but at a very high speed. If he had hit my bumper, he would have most likely sent me across the other lanes and/or into Hudson River. Thus, the driver would have killed me. Therefore, while I continue to move safely out of the way of dangerous and unstable aggressive drivers, I purchased the license plate frame to warn drivers (while moving out of there way), I have a silent witness recording them. Furthermore, I put the frame on the car today and observed that some drivers avoided following me closely. The response gave me some peace of mind. Still, I continue to drive defensively in the States and get out of the way of unstable and dangerous drivers. Finally, the license plate frame may remind some drivers of the reality to avoid tail gating on the road.
I see no need to announce that I have an expensive camera in my truck, I got it free with my order but probably will not be using it.
Some people like to so stealth with their dash cam install as to not give the bad guys any fair warning. Not me. This license plate frame lets those nefarious characters know what up; You’re being watched! Looks slick on my black car while sending a message at the same time. Thanks BBMC!
